Need Advice

Alright so I am still trying to decide if I should upgrade. The wife said do it, she wants a larger pilothouse. But I am really trying to justify it. Chaps' Edwing is the perfect boat for what I was looking for. BUT If I were in the next year there are two aluminum boat builders in Port Angeles that...

Re: My new to me Aluminum Cruising Tug

Keep it for about 20 years then I'll be ready to buy it from you and take it up the inside passage. That thing would be my dream boat. The boat I live on 9 months out of the year only does 10 kts and is usually doing allot less. You get use to it and start enjoying the trip instead of the destinatio...

Re: Best hull for beaching?

That looks like he landed on boulder. Which can happen but it was, from his own admission, caused from not paying attention. He said he had buck fever and was trying to hurry and beach. I realize that it only takes one time. But out lund that we used for beaching after 5 or 6 years looked nothing li...

Re: Is my skiff a repairable? Boating accident.

That's what I'm wondering right now too. The wife and kid is pumped to do some coastal exploring and camping so I'm trying to figure out how plate would fair. Allot of the beaches around here are gravel with the random boulders thrown in.

Best hull for beaching?

I want to do some exploring on some of the coastal beaches. But what would be the best option for me. Growing up in Alaska we had a 13' whaler that was great until it got waterlogged. Then after that we had a 18' Lund that started leaking after a while and needed to be sealed up every year. So if I ...

Re: Is my skiff a repairable? Boating accident.

I'm not a welder. But I think once aluminum is stretched it is hard to get it back into shape. I don't think you are going to be able to get the bottom straight again even if you replace the keel. Again I am not a welder but have worked on lots of steel boats and have been told aluminum is the same ...

Re: Rebuild, with Corrosion Spots

Not sure if it applies to aluminum welding or not. But whenever we have the hull welded on we use a penetrator paint. I'm not a welder so I don't know the name of it, but its two aerosol cans. One for the inside and one for the outside. They are two different colors and will penetrate and bleed thre...

Re: Agreed Value Insurance Q's

Well I got insurance for my boat threw farmers. As for commercial insurance, yeah it cost big dollars. It was staggering on what they charged us when I took over running a 118' trawler with a replacement cost of $5.6 million. I was 22y.o. and one year experience on this sized vessels. I am still nee...

Re: Agreed Value Insurance Q's

BoatUS was more then Farmers pretty much. I have been getting quote from different places. Have gotten 5 or 6 so far and Farmers is the cheapest.

Re: Agreed Value Insurance Q's

Yeah I fish Halibut and ling, but it is extremely rare to go past about 15miles out from shore. There are some good producing holes in allot closer then SW Corner of the C. But I guess I need to get more then they offered for the outboard then sit down with a pen and paper to make a detailed list of...

Re: Agreed Value Insurance Q's

I tried BoatUS but doesn't sound promising. I can probably live within 20miles of shore.

But you guys help with a break down of the values of each.

I am pretty sure the numbers they threw out are:
Hull: $18,000
Motor: $3,000 or $4,000 cannot remember
Trailer: $2,500
Electronics: TBD

Agreed Value Insurance Q's

So I bought CHAPS' 21' EDWING, I'm sure that some of you are at least familiar with it, and I was calling about getting insurance threw Farmers (my current carrier.) I was a little stumped on what the agreed value should be. And further confusing me is that I need to break it down into 4 categories....

I just spend some time looking at them. I love the lines on your boat.

But the 360 degree fishablility is nice while going after halibut with friends.

I was walking threw the Port Angeles Marina, while I was waiting for the mechanic to replace our blown head gasket, and this Armstrong was calling my name. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t153/joshbuck_88/1d8e845c.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t153/joshbuck_88/52b3236e.jpg http://i159.ph...

It has been a while, but here in WA I think I was covered under the good Samaritan law while working as a EMT. AS LONG AS I was working within my scope of training. It came because a first responder got sued for pulling a injured victim out of a car that was on fire. The guy ended up paralyzed, but ...

Wow, $95,000 for their 24' demo. Who are the dealers that are still a bargin? What I mean is who uses great materials but doesn't add all the finishings to drive the price up. I guess I would mean who all still makes a decent priced workboat?

Crozier Craft?

I was looking at a boat built by them. http://croziercraft.com/home/xulxaltsa/ in person it looks like a solid hull. The welds aren't the prettiest, but that doesn't hurt anything. I asked what it would be to have a 26x9.5 pilothouse built and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting for the hull less po...

no need for numbers. Just head SW from Tatoosh until you see the log with 3 seagulls then go another mile straight west. Can't miss it.

If you are ever out here fishing and I'm not working I'll show you around.

I'll try and get a few.

Getting the davit mounts put on for some hand gurdies, as I don't have a aluminum welder. Going to try and do some winter troll and pay for it.

Here is a pic from the super secret honey hole. 2 drifts about 40min with two poles.

Well I just picked up CHAPS' Edwing, and looking forward to getting her out fishing.

I'd post pics but I'm sure that you all know what she looks like.
