Inside of 1979 aluminum diesel tank

Tagged 5052 1/8th wall 110 gallon. I didn't see it in the boat but it has been epoxy repaired more than twice. Owner told me it cracked and he would jack the tank up 3" and get under with a dremel to clean it up and re-coat. He finally decided to cut the deck up last week and replace. I made hi...

Re: Ally boat repairs - am I worrying about nothing?

Pitting holes on thin aluminum are usually not worth fixing. If trying to spot repair the welder starts an arc and instantly starts chasing metal blowing away. answer cut, grind back to good metal. Cutting out bad metal and replacing becomes a problem with warping and chasing the hours in repair aga...

Re: Ally boat repairs - am I worrying about nothing?

Facebook is a little easier to share pictures here than photobucket. http://aluminumalloyboats.com/download/file.php?id=10136Is an easy way to attach photos. Another way is to click on attachments bellow in the bottom of the full editor field and download the file from your computer. I'm still looki...

Re: Anyone knowledgeable in concrete removal?

I thought about asking him for one block to set in the yard but it might be more convenient to frame and pour it myself if I really wanted it.

Anyone knowledgeable in concrete removal?

Or have creative ideas for removal? My cousin in-law has to remove 50'x50'x18" slab of concrete from inside a building. He wants a couple of these but the manufacturer is too far out on back order to have the concrete removed in the time frame it needs to be done. Do you know of other tools or ...

Re: Twin engines vs motor plus kicker

Relativity new outboards approximately 700 hours, brand shouldn't matter for the point, you can have a bad day with 3 motors. The owner bought and rigged that boat to fish the other side of the gulf stream out of Port Canaveral Fl. normal trips of 80 to 120 miles offshore. When he sold the boat it h...

Re: Twin engines vs motor plus kicker

I was on a triple 250hp outboard boat, the planned trip of the day was yellowfin tuna fishing around 100 miles offshore. About 15 miles out we spun a prop hub no one felt like swimming that early in the day so we made the call to swap props back at the boat ramp. About 5 miles from the ramp on the w...

Re: Twin engines vs motor plus kicker

Arguing what is safe is more of an opinion that has exceptions.
Single engine an powerless boats have crossed oceans.
Sport fishers have gone down in inlets and within sight of land.

Be careful,

I saw jettywolf post his on facebok. Not his boat. Anyone have more information? The drain plug was stuck in the boat so the owner used a torch to heat up and loosen it when all of a sudden the boat exploded. Besides the deck being blown apart the bottom of the boat is puffed out, the stringers blow...

Thank you, for doing your part in keeping all of us safe. Yes. "thought I'd like to be a boat guy to play around the waters of central Florida" "currently have 10 boats/watercraft" You are well past the "thought" part unless you acquired all of them at once. Welcome to AAB, neighbour. I'm Matt and have a welding shop in Edgewater Fl.
