Battery switch ticking

Another mystery to solve. Everytime I turn on the cockpit depth sounder my battery switch starts ticking. I have to turn off the engines and turn off the batteries and turn on the batteries again to make the ticking stop. Any one know what might be causing this?

Edwing for sale in Alaska

I came across this larger Edwing for sale in Alaska. Nice looking boat. A lot bigger than my 23. Beamy.

Do you have an update for us on your boat? Did you get it up to AK yet, and what do you think about it now that you (presumably) have some hours on it?

Jim
I second that. You picked a great builder. That is one nice boat. We would love to see more pic's

I like a single with a kicker myself. Up here we have alot of debris in the water (i.e. logs  and drift wood) and guys say twins have twice the chance of hitting something. So if you have lot's of debris in waters that is something to consider as well.

Welder....Bay, Flats. It all depends of the user. Bay boats were supposed to go over the nasty bay, were deeper freeboard and still could go shallow enough. But there's "typical" Flats boats, that I don't want to be in either going 25 miles thru the "bay" Here's one...un typical...

Good pic's Bevan. I have seen those rubber latches on other boats before and really like them. The Fisheries guys up here have them on their storm window boxes and other boxes on deck etc.

Steven Pollards books are great. Lot's of good information from a guy who has many years of experience. I have his first book and haven't bought the second one yet. Alot of his design's are not super deep V I noticed and I like that for fuel economy etc. and alot of them are very rugged work boat de...

That Bayweld website has been updated recently. I hadn't seen the new and improved version. Wow. I really like that 30' walkaround. With a 10' beam she still has lot's of room in the cabin.

Went out today with my son and my buddy and his son. Caught a nice Ling " COD" and got some nice Dungeness crabs and some larger than normal red rock crabs. Dropped some prawn pots for the hell of it but didn't do so good as the commercial guys have kicked the crap out of it. Prawning is d...

Thanks for that great article SL Dave. I can't wait for Yammy or Honda to come out with some killer electric hybrid outboards (just think of the torque). I would rather pay the money for new batteries than have to sail to the fish. If things get real bad we may have to be sailing to the fish (if the...

That is a great looking boat Marty. I remember seeing that photo a few years back and thought the same thing. An Ironwood is just not in my budget (yet). Baby steps. Just look at the entry and the sheer lines. That baby would rock with a triple set up. I have yet to make it over to the mainleand and...

I first saw those Bayweld boats when cruising the FishyFish Tolman board. I really like the shear line to them very salty looking. They look well made and I noticed lot's of guides up in Alaska use them. I agree with the lack of specifications on their site. Call them up and ask for references.

I've got the problem fixed now. I must have been some blockage somewhere. Took the lower unit off and blew compressed air up the pipe and she came screaming out the indicator. I took it to a Honda dealer North of me and he put it in his tank ran her for 25 minutes while monitoring the temp and no pr...

Welcome byodsl. I am not familiar with the Thomas make either. Looks a little like a Winninghoff. What's the beam and deadrise of her? The price seems reasonable if the power is o.k. and working. If she sunk you probably have to look into rewiring her. Nice photos. Good luck in your search for an AAB.

I thought about the rubber matts as well but the draw back is they are not an easy clean as others have posted.

Boy you fella's have it good in the warmer climates. I'm in Xtra tuffs almost all year up here  . We don't get into the bare feet thing much only a few trips a year in mid summer.

I would flush it out often for sure. Look at my photos in the Sculpin Project No. 1 in the Shop Talk area. Most of the stuff under the floor boards was from salt water getting into the cabin (mostly from the leaky windows) and never being cleaned etc. There was heavy salt deposits under there from a...

Welcome to AAB Jim. I'm totally blown away by the CC you made (that pod is cool and so are the spray plates at the bow) and the fishing shots are awesome. You totally make those boats into something special for sure. Keep posting pic's as everyone loves pic's.
