Re: Some recent projects

Looking very good, John. Here is an idea for holding a wash down hose. I made mine out of 4" diameter PVC pipe, although it could be made out of aluminum too. Simple to make. I purchased the PVC and then cut most of one side off (maybe 3/5ths of the pie, looking at the pipe from the end), leav...

Re: Last couple of evenings in my home waters

You have had a couple of productive evenings, John. Well done! Thanks Pete. This is right out front of Nanaimo where I live on the East Coast of Vancouver Island. The boat ride is like 15 minutes and I might have burned 20 bucks in fuel each evening. The first evening we lost 3, kept 3, and release...

Last couple of evenings in my home waters

Great evening out there off Neck Point. Bumped into a buddy that was coming in with limits for 4. Got the intel and ran with it lol. Worked out good. The fish cleaning station was going full tilt as well. All good signs. The water was beautiful out there. Looking North towards the Winchelsea's. http...

Re: Some recent projects

All done!!! Lets go fishing. Here is a shot of the tank with 10 gal's of water in it. No leaks!. I wish I made the tray about 1.5" narrower all around. I wasn't thinking about the footprint shrinking when it grows in height. Oh well a winter project. I don't think it will move much and if it do...

I'm so close to being done.......I can taste it lol. This has been an interesting one for sure. Re: Some recent projects

Changed all the oils tonight as well. My buddy is an Amsoil agent so I get 20% off the internet price. Nice me thinks. Supposed to be good stuff and the hot chicks at the show's don't hurt either lol. Works out cheaper than the Honda stuff and my engine is way past warranty anyways lol. http://i267....

Re: Some recent projects

Well it's Friday and I had to work late so I didn't make it out fishing. Thought I would stay around and whipped this up. Anyone that has fished on my boat will tell you about things falling off the seats lol. No more battery case lids full of stuff sitting on the seats. http://i267.photobucket.com/...

Re: Some recent projects

On to more new stuff. I have quite a few thousand dollars worth of reels and rod's that are used at any given time depending on the fishing situation. I thought it would be good to install a fresh water wash down system to hose off the rod's and reels on the way in. This will greatly extend the life...

This early spring we installed new wipers. They replaced the crappy old AFI ones. The new ones kick azz and are pantograph to boot. The new motors. http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii297/Coal_miner/Sculpin%20Projects/IMG_4247_zps2cc73d37.jpg The new arms and blades. http://i267.photobucket.com/alb...

Re: Some recent projects

The VHF I bought was a refurbished unit and was informed by a member that bought the same unit of some problems he had with the installation of his unit. I heeded his advice and the install went well. http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii297/Coal_miner/Sculpin%20Projects/IMG_4204_zps2e9e5d7e.jpg Mon...

Re: Some recent projects

Well I have been organizing the shed and recently went to HD for some cleaning supplies. They had this Rigid shop vac on sale with all the accessories and 21' of hose with a wall mount for 55 bucks!!! It is a 5.0 hp vacuum to boot! I got it mounted, tried it out, and the thing ROCKS. http://i267.pho...

Some recent projects

I have been a busy boy with my gal lately. I went to the Harbour Chandler May sale and blew quite a few bucks there like the rest of the folks lol. I picked up a second VHF radio of the Standard Horizon likes. It's the Explorer 1600 model that is only 3.5" deep for installation purposes. I chos...

Re: Mystery question - what is this thing? And why do it?

X3 on the trolling plate. You see that (not like that) on boats with just a main engine and no kicker. I have seen angles welded vertically on the transom like a track and you slide an aluminum plate or piece of heavy plywood up and down in the track to slow you down to the right speed. I have never...

Really great thread Kevin. I am learning lot's reading this stuff. I am a no foam guy because of everything I have read on here about corrosion issues and weight issues. Keep it up as I want to learn more.

Re: New builder on Vancouver Island

Hey, like . . . is that thing made out of stainless steel? Sure looks like it without acid washing don't it. I don't like the foam either. I want to talk to Bruce to see about sealing off some bulkheads or otherwise to create 3 chambers in the under belly. I don't like the scuppers either...

Re: New builder on Vancouver Island

Is it me or the angle but the TJ looks like a toy next to the Cope. It's nice that there is someone building these types of boats. I liked the 23' Winter Harbor but there have only been 2 built. Not very easy to get out on a test ride. Specmar wasn't any better as I like Pollards design even more. ...

Those chines are huge! I like the lines on that hull. When will you be towing her home. Yeah they are 12" chines!!! The lines are really nice me thinks as well. I hope to build one myself in the next couple of years. I looked at some of the Specmar's of similar design for a few years...
