Re: Catchin' some fish in an alloy boat
Bit windy. Actually it was gusting over 40 mph according to the sign on the interstate.

Re: Catchin' some fish in an alloy boat
Took our yearly trip to Flaming Gorge in WY. Water level was high and the wind was an issue 2 of the 3 days we fished (pic is of the 2nd day coming back to the marina). 3rd day we only fished a couple of hours as we had to start heading home due to an unexpected medical issue at home. On top of that...

Re: Catchin' some fish in an alloy boat
Took a 140 mile trip out to Santa Rosa Island. Started at the backside where it was colder and rougher and finished on the front side where it was much nicer. Felt good to get out of the overcast and wind. Can't really tell but there was some swell too on the backside and did I mention cold? The two...

Were you in reverse in the 4th picture or does it always sit that low in the water?

Re: Catchin' some fish in an alloy boat
Ran out between fronts. Put 128 miles round trip on the boat. Fishing kind of tough for myself but not bad for the other two. Friend is holding a nice Copper aka Chucklehead. Bottom pic is what we kept and tossed back maybe a dozen short or barely legal lingcod and a bunch of other rockfish. Used a ...

Re: What's happening at the Wooldridge shop
one rarely encounters the term " 21 foot" and "offshore" in the same sentence. that said, I suppose any craft on the water is "offshore. Have to laugh at this. Apparently you've never fished off of So.Cal. There are guys who fish 60+ miles "offshore" in 13' zodiacs...

Landed 14 fish on bait after a jig strike. Had a newbie to tuna fishing who lost 8 fish before he landed his first one then proceede...

Re: Advice for Corrosion
BC Tony, I was putting in a buss bar over the weekend and looked at my corner rod holders while on my back. They drain into the bilge but really not much water comes down them since they are covered most of the time. However, water does indeed come down the tube. Anyways, I could clearly see the whe...

Re: Wolf West Coast Cruiser details
Funny I just launched out of S.B. last Friday. Fished Rosa and a tad behind Miguel before going to Talcot Shoals and over to the front side of the marine no fish zone (just on the edge). Did very well at Talcot. Must have caught close to 100 fish. Since it was shallow we could toss back what we didn...

Re: Wolf West Coast Cruiser details
Where about in CA are you? I'm in V.C. so fish the C.I. mostly. Radon country and thought nothing better than a Radon hull for going downhill since I owned a 22' Davis. Great boat but very wet riding. Always got wet in an uphill quartering sea. I think the biggest difference you're going to find is ...

Re: Advice for Corrosion
My fish hold will often have wet dock lines and bumpers (saltwater) in there and I have zero corrosion. In fact, I just came from the boat where I'd put water in the hold and let it sit for about a month since it had had one of the dock lines and bumpers with fish gunk all over them. Probably sat fo...

Re: Advice for Corrosion
BC Tony, no worries. I know how difficult it can be to write something and wonder if it came across the wrong way. One can't inflect tone when writing. As for your boat, it really is a bummer. Even more so w/out the trailer now. I'd still want to get it out of the water and see what happens. I wonde...

Re: Advice for Corrosion
Oh I just assumed that since you had to get it from OR up to BC and vice versa it'd be on a trailer. My bad. Although it'd be pretty easy to think that you owned a trailer. So I guess NR didn't kick in for the cost of transportation then either? That would suck as I"m sure it wasn't cheap to ha...

Re: Advice for Corrosion
This may sound like a dumb question but why don't you pull the boat out of the water? You obviously have a trailer to put it on. Keep it on the trailer for several months and see what happens. IF the corrosion continues then you can go back to NR and talk to them. IF it stops, then you can try to is...

Re: looking for new boat , Brand/model advise
How far to do have to run for albacore? How many miles do you put on in a day of tuna fishing? Is it even reasonable to think you can make 2-3 trips on one tank? Could you even put a 200 gallon tank in a 24'-27' boat? Pacific only has 150 in their 26' CC so just wondering. Bigger boat and more fuel ...

Re: Shhhhhh. New build coming shortly
"hate reading about estimates with 2 guys, 1/2 tank of fuel, no gear, and in the bay or a lake." You know, surprisingly enough those "estimates" are fairly accurate. In fact, my actual numbers are better than what the lake trials came out to be. That's with gear, full tank, food ...

Re: Catchin' some fish in an alloy boat
Pic of some rockfish at Santa Rosa Island. Ended up with about double in the picture. Also managed the yellowtail. Just goes to show that even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while. Although we did get another one a bit smaller when we repositioned the boat. This one was 43" to the fo...

Even catch tuna once in a while. No luck with the large bluefin tuna though. These were small yft footballs caught mostly on a kokanee hootchie daisy chain I rigged up.

Re: Russians invade Alaska in fleet of aluminum boats!
Mr. Morin, While I respect your knowledge on alum. boats immensely, I think you should keep your feelings regarding Native Peoples to yourself. It paints you in a far different light IMO. I've read and reread your first post. I only glanced at what was written afterwards. It seems to me that you tak...
