On my boat, the offset cabin is the way to go. Otherwise the cabin would be too small, and the walkways down the sides would be too narrow.

Looking at some mud boats that have a built in fuel tank up front on the bow and wandering if the same alloy is used that the hull was made out of or...

The fuel tanks that West Marine sells are made out of 5052. Stephen Pollard's book states that tanks must be a minimum thickness of .090.
