Dave and Jay and Marty from Montauk-

#1

Post by Chris Gatley »

I finally made it here. I hope I have some insight for those looking. I have a 23 foot 3/4 with a 200 Mercury Optimax. Since buying, I have added a bunch of stuff so maybe my trials and errors can help.

See you on the Water!

It's about damn time!!

You told me, you'd come on by and see the fruits of our "bitchin" (starting our non-alloy dedicated forum) months ago, Cappy Chris.

Good to have ya' here.

Did Jay put a spark under your leaning post? It ain't snowin yet is it??

You have me, as I said to ya before to you, reminising old memories of the town tavern in Milford on .25 cent night.

Oh were those the days....

I'll always be interested in what comes out of the river from that area Northward, if you go that far.

Thanks Guys-

I sent some pix today to Jay at Black Lab. Maybe he can post them here. They are from my boat (of another 38 or 40 foot glass boat with trips) while duking it out in 5 and 6 footers inside Raritan Bay this past spring. We ended the day with 40 some odd 30 pound bass. One of those days that dreams are made of. I bent an anchor, soiled my shorts and kicked BACK SIDE with my Mercury Optimax and 23 foot black lab. It took me 2 hours to go 12 miles to port but the black lab made it a piece of cake. my guys got wet but we did it.

I can remember a day offshore that took me 4 hours to go 14 miles to the inlet...and prayed my engine would just stay running. If not, we were in the water for sure. It wasn't in my BLM, and to tell ay the true I don't think it would have mattered if I was in the 34 Rock Salt. (it still would have been scary)

60 mph winds and 10-12 footers crashing white water over us.

But then again, I have one now. And all that matters is...I'm smarter now!
Yeah, we caught a few good fish too. And kissed the ground when we got back.

Damn, its so fun being responsible for strangers, lives.

I asked before, but your in Milford, accross from Upper Black Eddy, right?
