another Alaskan newbie

Post by drookit »

Hello all,

Just got a 1985 16' Almar runabout, 1987 Suzuki 65hp, Johnson 8hp kicker. The boats needs a new top. Wifey says it needs a repower too.

Will post pics when I can.

Anyway, I'll be asking lotsa questions. I'm gonna want to upgrade a few things and add some electronics and will need some advice.

My experience is rivers and lakes, and we're planning on fishing PWS, K-Bay, and Seward when the conditions are right for the boat. The plan is to work on her this winter and start fishing her hard next year.

Welcome Ken.

You being a AK Resident you just busted Dave's idea that all Alaska Members have big bad A$$ boats with Forts. :deadhorse:

It's refreshing for sure.

He'll probably get a 40 footer with a state room, next time around.

The economy is in the dump again, thanks to the over-paid and under worked people who run the show.

Will posts pics today.

I know, this thread is worthless without pictures.

Nope, no big boat in the future. A man's go to know his limitations. Or is it his budget?

Either way, I admire those biguns' but can't justify the expensive with such a short boating / fishing season and the numerous other things there are to do here in AK.

Thanks for the welcome aboard.
