I'm off April 2 ready to fish and maybe I'll be able to get the boat out of the snow by then.

Post by Ironwoodtuna »

Guys,

Where are the cod and haddock in April?

If my memory serves me its up on the high points of the Banks. Is that true?

I am looking to make a run up for a two or three day trip.

Who is going to be fishing then???Mrty

Mrty, from my experience, the cod have been plentyfull on top of the bank in April. However, I usally release 8-10 to keep one. The bigger ones seem to be close by in deeper water. Also, last year, jigs outfished clams 15 to 1. Let me know if you head to Mass Bay, maby I'll be out there too.....

I start at the NW corner and usually don't have to go far from there. The fleet you will find near the "LL's" . You may have to sort through 10 shorts to catch a keeper, but the action will be hot.

Got some reports today from a couple commercial guys who said the cod are stacked up pretty good on the bank. Haddock are far and few between however. Hopefully they are just waiting to push in from offshore.

5 DAYS AND COUNTING :!:
