ReelSong project hits the salt

#1

Post by ReelSong »

Finally made it out to catch albacore on friday, scratched up 20, got blown off saturday, then caught 34 on Sunday. Average distance offshore was around 50 miles with all day trolling and burned around 80 gallon of fuel, this in 25% less then my old Seasport with the 454cui dual prop. Boat handles and runs like a dream on the ocean and apparently raises fish ok. Here's a few pics of her running in on Friday

She looks great at cruise! Have you run her over a scale, yet? I would be curious to hear what she weighs and see some fuel burn numbers. Well done, sir!

She weighs 11,500 on the trailer full of fuel,175gallon, and full of gear. I have not weighed trailer alone yet but I'll try to soon. I burned 80gallon on one trip and 92on the other . 80 gallon trip was 53 miles out , trolled 35 miles and ran 47 back. I burn 2.8 to 3.2 trolling with one motor at 7.4 miles an hour. average burn between 13.8 and 17 gallon an hour running between 24mph and 34mph depending on sea conditions. the 92 gallon day we were pushing into a 4 on 4 at 15mph for 50 miles, getting around a 17-18 gph burn then troll and return at 18 mph on a rough following sea. at 48 mph inside the bar we burned 34gph but only for a very short ride.

Thanks everyone for the praise, I really like her so far, the only problem is deciding what to build this winter? I may remodel my willie sled but I'd kinda like to start another build . Hopefully my brother gets serious and I can build him a boat.
