What a season!

#1

Post by spoiled one »

We finally had a summer here in the north country. We had multiple 70º+ days on the water. It did show up a bit late, though. We had a mid May blizzard. That was a kick to the junk! :nutkick:
I did not feel like getting walked by the dog launching, so we enjoyed a night on the trailer with the ESPAR cranking.

We made a few trips to grab oysters. These have to be the sweetest, most flavorful oysters I have ever eaten. We even found a couple of pearls.

Only needed the redneck tarp a couple of times.

Father's day weekend was as hot as I have experienced out there. Mid 90ºs? You have to be kidding me!

The kids spent the entire day in the water. We even broke out the tube.

Found a nice cooler.

We were invited to a boat show at Eshamy Bay Lodge. We aren't used to being the little boat.

They even had live music. Caribbean Slim made an appearance.

A couple of 40' coastal crafts with the twin IPS drives were there. I have some pics of them that I cannot seem to find. The builder was there as well. What a stand up guy. These have to be the finest alloy boat I have ever seen. They come at a price, though. I was impressed with the better than 1mpg, 30+knot cruise economy. Pretty impressive.

We broke in another boat dog. Sage is working out quite well.

We even found some time to put some flat fish in the freezer.

Any fool can rough it, so we tend to eat quite well out there.

It sure was. Gotta hang on to those memories. They get us through our long winters. Calling for a 16" or snow of the white fluffy stuff by tomorrow morning.

Driveway has already been plowed once. Probably once more this weekend. It's cutting into my boat fuel budget!

Dang Pete if Dave and you would stop complaining and just deal with the part of the country you all live in. you would be much happier. You Both live in God's second home. Primary residence is in PNW.

Nice pictures and Nice snow. I am at work waiting on kicking out a plane to Anchorage. Supposed to leave with in the hour. But Snow there might hold us up. SOG!

Ha! No complaining here. I have a boat with a fort and plenty to do this winter. Hurry up and take some time off so you can get back to your project. Cheers!

Thanks for sharing your pics. You must be a good husband and a great Dad. The prime rib on the boat is a nice touch! I also recognize the pink salmon bait rig for halibut fishing. it works great. If you have not done so yet, you also might try ling cod belly as halibut bait. The skin is so tough it won't come off the hook! Here is to more of the same next season!

I will have to try the ling cod belly. I use salmon carcasses and heads regularly with success. Surprisingly the head pictured struck out that day.
