FlukeTill Ya Puke

My son and I have fished the "fluke till ya puke tournament" father's day weekend for the last 5 years. Starts on Friday night with the captains meeting, and ends with a great cookout, beer, and live music on Saturday afternoon. Fishing is "lines in" at 5AM, and "lines out" at 1PM with final weigh-in's at 4PM.
Up and out the door at 4am. Prepped the boat the night before, ice, bait, and food. Shot through the west gap at 5AM and was met with pea soup fog, and 3-5 foot swells. Using GPS and radar we carefully made our way to our hot spot where we fished alone in the thick fog. Bite was slow until the tide change. Then it was non stop action with large sea bass, and keeper fluke (summer flounder). The shorts were released back to the drink to be caught another day. We worked the drift for about 3 hours with a constant pick fish. Sea bass is closed till the end of the month so all sea bass had to be released. Last half hour before "lines out" my son pulled a healthy 4.05 fluke from the 65 foot depths to secure second place in the juniors division. His hard work payed off and he was rewarded with nice rod & reel fluke combo, some fishing attire, and a tackle bag full of Thom-cat rigs
Final tally was 8 keeper fluke including the second place winning fish
