34 Oil Cub

Due to the cold weather we only have a few pictures of our latest boat. This 34' has a pair of 350 hp V-8 Yamaha's .With full fuel it topped out at 46.4 kts (55mph). The boat was designed to carry a 1,000 ft of oil boom . (very quickly) We had to get it to New Jersey before this next blast of cols air hits this week. The company has promised to let us borrow it for some video when we get a weather break. There should be some pictures on Facebook "Sound Marine Aluminum Boats".

At 55 mph we were burning 67 gph and turning 5700 rpms. Backing down to 4000rpm we were still doing more than 30 mph but only burning 25 gph. Probably need to knock a little pitch out of the propellers after the company loads 1500lbs of oil spill response boom.

The customer is a pretty good size oil spill response company in New Jersey. They have a spill response crew on standby 24/7. The company has one hour to respond to a spill. They wanted the speed to give them a little quicker response time on the jobs that are near the outskirts of there area of responsibility.. The owner invited me over this week for lunch to talk a bout the next boat. Maybe 2013 is looking a little brighter.
