First figures from the ME 40'/trip 557's

Recall the pic from the MIBS thread and if you read/post on THT the rather boring vid is linked there. The break-in process began and this behemoth cruised at 72-73 mph and they went to their rev limit and got 81 mph. What wasn't shared were the rpm's at those speeds though I believe they said the 70's came at only 4800. With a rumored red line of 6800, they didn't even hit the power band for those engines. Scary fast if you ask me and for comparison, a 392 Nortec with quad 350 Vrods that was at the Miami Show (A-Team Fishing) broke 80 mph and the owner said there is more there. I got my first gray hair after riding in one of those bass sleds with 300 hanging off the end (Merc Racing Engine) that hit 75. Most frightened I have ever been in my life as the mad Captain slung that thing around a bend WFO and I'm about an inch from the Lake's surface as we had to have skidded hundreds of yards before he got the trim right. Not for me is all this speed.
I only do what the voices in the Tackle Box tell me to.
