Click on the BIG BOE MARINE banner and check out the SPOT locater , it's only $115.00 and does a bunch of stuff, tracking, locating, 911 . It's on their main page.

We have these for safety purposes for people working in the bush and they work really well to let those back in the office know that all is well and where folks are. One of the gals took one on the Tierra del Fuego Adventure Trek (50k walk, 50k paddle, 50k walk etc etc) and we enjoyed watching her teams progress - Canucks came in 2nd place despite being amateurs vs "pro" atheletes.

I just placed an order with BOE for the spot. I like the tracking feature and it is a great idea so my wife can see where I am when I am alone and far out of cell range. When my son gets a little older, I am going to strap it under his bike seat. He will never know it's there. I thought about it for a few months, but the BOE price tipped the scale and I bought it.

Spot is great but it's not a replacement for epirbs, larger boats, common sense and good seamanship.

I'm seeing too many folks here in OR taking little boats built for river and estuary use way too far offshore. "But I gots my flares and float coats and my spot so if anything happens I'm okay."

Boating is not a matter of life and death. It's much more important than that!
