gps antenna reception

#1

Post by cape steve »

I have a pacific hard top. Planning on replacing my 6 yr old garmin gps with a new device. The current gps has an external antenna installed on the roof of the hard top. I am considering a lowrance gps/depthfinder unit with an internal antenna, hoping to get away without the roof top antenna. Wondering if anyone has had experience with these devices installed in hard top and any problems with reception?

I have an HDS10 in my LaConner. The internal antenna worked so-so. Hooked up the outside puck and reception was much better. Sat doesn't go thru metal so good IMO.

Nor NON ALLOY. Constant alarms on a buddies boat with a internal antenna in a Raymarine C series.
Get the 4000 Puck from Lowrance and call it good. You will be happier than not :banghead:
