Alaska is a big State...... Alaska has characters larger than life...... The people I have met have huge warm hearts...... Probably being from a frontier State they help each other out in big ways.
Sabs their "midgets" are taller than I am :rotfl:

It hit 50º at the house this weekend. My grass is green and the snow has nearly disappeared. Winter in Alaska!
Spending my kids inheritance with them, one adventure at a time.

Watch out with the Lawn Mower, probably like us Southern Californian's washing the car........ never fails to rain. You will probably invoke the "weather powers that be." And get a 40 degree temperature swing and a foot of snow.

Pete you velly funny tall man.......... I did not know you had green astroturf for a lawn.

Talking about green grass and snow............. Warm thoughts of the perfect summer week in Alaska. The trip winding down and heading to Whale Bay. Pete exclames look about 2 miles out up on that moutain...... There is a meadow near that snow bank.......... a black bear. Huh!!!!!! where???????? Pete hands me his bino's. Sure enough.......... looked like a black speck of pepper to my tired asian eyes. A black Bear enjoying Summer up high. Probably escaping the No See-ums and incessant Mosquito populations. Gorging on a daily diet of 80 lbs. of meadow grasses.

Jeepers Creepers them Alaskan hunter eyes....... Camera at 25x

Image

Zoomed picture. Very Cool Pete........... That bear would look good on the wall ......... Hey Carolmizer

Image

This one for you Sabs........... Les enjoying his stay on Event Horizon..................................................................................................................
Tough Texan bear sighting. I am glad Les was not in his Star Wars PJ's .........."What stays on the Boat" ............. Happens on the boat :rotfl:  (what can I say I am dyslexic on sayings)

Z was wearing the Starwars jams, I had on my Spiderman set.
Dug was an awesome skipper and keeps a tight ship he wouldn't let me trash out the boat like Scott and Mark did on Petes boat.

Sabs as you get older you will understand  Yes, Lester it was a bit messy..... Being video and camera central....... Bar central with huge Texan style cocktails..... Cooking and snack central. If I remember correctly you were not smelling so nice :rotfl: Yes if invited back I will make it a priority to keep things more organized.(I am so sorry Pete we made it into a Man Cave Boater Home.)

About those No-see-ums and Incessant Mosquitos. Great weather does have a minor drawback. The Vampire type insect populations explode and search for a likely food source. At a certain dock, I remember Scott running for the fort before they dessicated his Healthy but Skinny frame. Note to self..... wear a hat. Not only to hide my Einsteinian hairdo but....... those blood sucking insects are evolutionary brilliant. Fish cleaning happens later in the day when the hoard becomes more active. When cleaning fish your hands become a slimey mess...........That is when they call in the calvary to attack the scalp digging, biting and feeding. The choice of fish sliming the hair and further attracting the tribe of hemoglobin barbarians or just finishing the task at hand, washing up and then go into a frantic head scratching episode. I swear there were bumps on top of bumps. New bumps would pop up after the old ones healed????? Must be my lower 48 immune system not being acclimated. Not only are Alaskans tough they must have rhino skin albeit a little vitamin d3 deficient :rotfl:

I see um No-See-Um little critter packs a nasty bite just keeps digging into you.

Image

Lets zoom in on the villain

Image

Now to the hoard....... Mosquitos staging a launching base.

Image

Hungry sucker gets his.......... One buzzing around while eating. It sticks it's proboscis into the piece of cabage and starts feeding?????? Keels over and dies....... My cooking????? I know most do not notice these things. I do :?: Strange things happen if you are observant.

You folks have been worried about what welder does because he is a texan. He is in reality a transplant. If all goes as planned you will meet a pure redneck texican. Les has told me all about you fellers and your exploits. Summer of 2014 i plan on joining les and the rest of you folks in Alaska if you will have me. P.s. I know stories on les

Les you know the respect and admiration we all have for you. It's that seven year old in all of us Alaskan Meet and Greeters. If you were not liked you would not be playfully teased. I believe, we have all at some point have been the proverbial fire hydrant. Hopefully the readership understands how special and truly privileged these get togethers are. We get on the Boat(s) as men but leave as friends and brothers.
