And, it was wearing armor plate, yeah that's it, body armor.

Come on Dug, Pete uses a shot gun with #2;s and we had to use a .45 with a 3" Barrel on a moving boat shooting a moving target.
Actually I use #6s or #71/2s, but that is irrelevent. Placement is key. Ya need to put the lead about an inch to an inch and a half behind the top eye. We don't shoot them up here because we have to, we shoot them because we can! A well placed "WHACK" with old Rodney just behind the top eye is just as effective. Before I picked up the little .410 I used to use an old Ruger single six 22. Never needed more than one pill to the sweet spot.

Notice the sweet spot?

We weren't in any hurry and got the big fish eventually! Les said he wanted to shoot guns in Alaska and I was being a good host and fulfilling that request. We'll dial it in better this year though. Now we know what we are doing. That would be a pretty fun game on the i-Phone though - Halibut Headache! :gunner2:

The airlines won't let me bring a gun and my bow won't fit in my carry on. So when I get there can I shoot something? :gunner2:

You can absolutely check a firearm. I have done it many times. You can even mail a long gun to yourself through the USPS.

I hear we might need to check out a few bears for a later visit? We do alright on the black bears out there.

Pete, I'm looking forward to meeting all of you folks. Would love to do a little scouting for the future. I'll have to start saving more beer cans for that. I think I have the solution, drink more beer, that way I have more cans to sell!

If we anchor up for the evening around any salmon streams, we'll have to take a little walk and watch some bears be bears.

This waiting around for summer is crazy... I think I mentally packed my bags at least a month ago. Trying to prepare for that half marathon while I'm there too. I may get a personal best if I think those bears are chasing me though....
