welding 10yr old boat

#1

Post by fishmaster2 »

I have my eye on a used 22' aluminum , it has an extended height cabin ---makes it look like a english tour bus -- i would like to modify and make a raised cuddy and streamline the cabin . My question is,is there any problem in cutting and welding 10year old alum. Dumb question but i have to ask

Just have to sand or wire brush the oxide layer off in the area of the weld otherwise no big deal. I'm not sayin' it welds as nice as fresh alloy out of the mill but good prep will get you there.
