Tempered glass ports vs. Hood/Bomar s/s units

All I've searched with some success on the advantages of laminated vs. safety glass (vs. acrylic and Lexan) as replace ment port windows. I'm committed to go the clear glass route in the refit of my McCurdy Rhodes/Luke ocean racer.

The current ports in the coachhouse are acrylic, albeit hazed and scratched and need to be replaced. They were bolted to the hull. Aside from the fact that s/s Hood units open, is there a clear set of pro's/cons to going that route vs. new glass-only inserts? I presume the s/s units can be insulated from the hull. I guess my biggest concern is in how to secure glassonly and still be able to replace it if it breaks.

Thoughts?
