36ft Center Console boat build
36ft Center Console boat build
I thought I would share my boat build as this is my first aluminum boat and I'm sure I will be seeking any helpful info during the build. The design process took almost 6 months and welding started about 2 weeks ago.

Re: 36ft Center Console boat build
is it a kit?
who's the builder?
where's it being built Baton Rouge?
Isn't that funny though.......another satisfied Southern Alloy Owner in Louisiana.
Things that make ya go Hmmmmm.
Damn I guess I would fit in over yonder, better than here (which ain't saying much)

What Jettywolf said............
I see you are listed as being in Baton Rouge. (But I won't hold that against ya ) SO I figure it must be somewhere fairly near to where I hang my hat. (Greenwell Springs)
But my guess would be somewhere "Down the Bayou".

Trav, your killing us dude.
We NEED numbers .......................Dead rise, beam , Free board, power , plate thickness and type.............You know , The details.
Any go fast Alloy over 30' makes us drool .
I can see it now your 36 and the Rocksalt 34 ......Head to head offshore

Re: 36ft Center Console boat build
The boat is being built at Gaudet boats, its was not a kit we had a navel architect design it. After he was done though its like putting the puzzle together now all the pieces fit together without out any other cutting other than the original cuts at the water jet. The plate is 5/16" on the bottom and 1/4" pretty much everywhere else. Beam is 10'6" and length without motors to the back of the bracket is 38 ft. Here is the latest pics all the stringers on, the tops of the gunnels in place and also the chines.

Re: 36ft Center Console boat build
Im gonna stick with twin 350 Yamaha's I think, it definitely would be nice to come in from the canyon on two if I lost one but I like to keep it pretty simple.

Re: 36ft Center Console boat build
Entry angle? Deadrise? Draft?
Re: 36ft Center Console boat build
Close to 400 gallons of fuel entry is 40 degrees and the dead rise is 22. Draft is 1'8"

Re: 36ft Center Console boat build
Trav 13:
I love the design and build up so far. Looks far better and thought out than I would think for a first off project. Def looks like pieces were cut and design for exactly certain places. Nothing looks peiced so far and I am sure none will further into to project. Very deep , agressive entry and rough sea running rear. Lines are approaching that of the go fasties ( Cig,Fount, ect).
I hope your build goes glass smooth and please keep the photos coming.
On another note , Has anyone thought of a notched chines to airate the running bottom. I have been waiting to see that on one of these full out customs. I imagine it could be stamped into the plates with great effort. The reason I meantion this is Alloy hulls really seam to stick to the glass smooth water, once chops builds they seem to really benefit. I notice a 7 knot difference in speed in my own 26 from glass smooth water to chop.

Re: 36ft Center Console boat build
Funny Occams....we think alike I love the idea of introducing air similar to the old 70's SeaCraft hulls. I fished on Friday at the Claw on my budies 26' Sailfish...the ride back in 3-4 footers was incredibly smooth for a 26' footer. All the spray knocked down, smooth landing at 28-32 knots....all this with twin 150's 4S...Great ride
I love all this build stuff....keep the pics coming

Re: 36ft Center Console boat build
Hey Alloy !
How are the Charlies hitting ? I hear the yellows have been in close recently.
Yes I guess we think along the same lines. I am sure it would not take much more design effort , just more welding.
I don't think alloy hulls would need a great deal of airrating either due to our extreme weight advantage over glass
hulls.
I love my 26 and the only thing I even consider doing to it in the future is putting one of those cool west coast style walk around pilot houses on it. Other than that it it the most stable hull I have ever been in in big water for its size. We sacrifice little for the gain in seaworthyness our our offshore alloy hulls. I have a buddy down the street that has a contender on yes its fast, it goes itto big chop better but even its owner says the same thing ( Your Pacific is more stable in big water). And to actually gain the the advantage of their deep Vs Alloy's would need an even greater V to achive their smothness because we have such a weight advantage. Then we would sacrifice fuel economy .
These deep V monsters are real machines though and very eye catching !

Re: 36ft Center Console boat build
It might be something as simple as a heavy bead blasting on the bottom.....I'd love to hear some input from designer's / builders on this topic maybe on another post......
Don't mean to hijack this gentleman's great build post

Re: 36ft Center Console boat build
Gaudets built another members Bay boat.....a nice whjite and red shiney one. Split windshield La. style bay boat.
They really do nice work.
When that babies done are ya gonna run over those cheapy Twin V cats on the way to the far offshore rigs?
I would.......
But then again, I'm known around these parts for running over junkie ping-pongs.

Re: 36ft Center Console boat build
Which Naval Architect did you use? The boat looks awesome.
Re: 36ft Center Console boat build
Yep Clint and the boys built mine.
Jetty is right, but a little off on the color. On the Trailer it's the "Coast Guard" orange model with black bottom.
I go by there around once a week and nose around that hull of yours. It's a beauty.
Just got from Biloxi in my little hull.
Went over and saw the ChEE WeeZ !!
I'll meet you sooner or later!
Clint Gaudet is good people........in fact I gave him that jib pole that flips your boat. (or will be)
My brother and dad own the tow trucks at the light right past Clint's shop at Airline.
