Out with the old Tie Down brakes (non vented to boot).

Image

In with the new Tie Down brakes. Vented rotors and more corrosion resitent calipers than the old ones (I know I know they all corrode).

Image

Hope to have her almost all back together tomorrow.

This has been a fun project and should be rewarding in the end. A nice brake (pun intended) from the halibut issues!

Cheers,
John

Well she's getting there. Got all the brakes installed. Wheels put back on.

Image

Image

I sure like the newer flexible brake line kits.

Image

This is my son's handy work. He installed the new jack, re worked the winch drum and zinc primed it, installed a new strap and hook, installed a new bow roller, and replaced all the bolts up front.

Image

Just have to do the lights now and then the bunks.

Well all the lights are installed and working great. Whew that was the biggest one for me. Starting to get there. I know the weather is great this weekend and I should be out on the water but work has become crazy (I think folks are worried about our Provincial election coming up in a year and want to get stuff done).

Here she is now. I just have to install the bunks.

Image

Image

I made up some adapter channels to weld into the bunk channels. They were 2 x 6 lumber with slick bunks before so I need to keep the same height. I'll post up tomorrow how it all works.

Image

I'm going to put this reflective tape on the front as required by law but I am also going to put some on the side guide bunk posts to help me see them in the dark.

Image

Shoudl have her ready to roll tomorrow afternoon.

Cheers,
Sculpin

it will really feel like a great accomplishment when the boat is in the water and you are walking back to the parking lot to get the trailer after a grand day of fishing! NICE JOB! better than new in my opinion! Capt PJ

What a long day. My fishing buddy Steve came out all afternoon and we got the bunks done. Sorry we were on a roll and didn't take any shots of attaching the UHMW. I even got the first mate to come out and help me finish it off after dinner.

Image

Jake putting on some little extra's in the reflective department. Nice to be able to see the posts on the side guides.

Image

All hooked up and ready to go.

Image

I know I know I might want to put the license plate back on there lol.

I'll finish the thread off with some shots of the boat back on the trailer in the next couple of days. Thanks for following along so far.

2) Red goes UP on the reflective tape
3) Hope you used the right wire connectors
4) Trailer hitch is to low
5) Need to get a truck with a Cummins in it

Naw really, you should get years of service out of her.

1) - They all go round and round. If you guys have your panties in a knot over the looks of the wheels maybe you should get out on the water more often :nutkick:

2) I least I think I got the horizontal white FORWARD right? didn't I? I'll switch out those verticals. Thanks for the reds up dude.
3) I welded all the connections with 1/16 flux cored wire :rotfl:
4) Might be right there. I'll look into that.
5) Yeah I do if I can ever find a pre 94' that some old timer never drove and kept in a garage it's whole life.

As long as the trailer does it's job, that is all that matters. It does look 100 times better after the the rebuild. As far as the "red stripe down", Maybe it's a "Canadian thing" :rotfl: .

You don't think that the use of that plastic wiill be super slippery? Good thing you have those big side guards on the trailer.

ONE TIME, I put "slip strips" on my old trailer on my ole glass boat and went around a downward facing turn, looked in the rear view miorror and almost SHET my pants, as I saw my boat slide a good foot over to one side via "Rolling", because the "upright is the only thing that held it on the trailer!!

I vowed to Never Again use anything slippery and went to the ramp and took those off the bunks the next day.

AND FLORIDA DOESN'T HAVE ANY HILLS :!: Can't imagine in hill country.......although I guess you can strap the crap out of the boat. Which I don't. Because it's another chore to do, when you trailer as much as I do.

You ""strappin the crappin"" out her???

Yeah I have been warned by quite a few folks about the slipperiness. I will be "strappin the crappin" out of her Dave lol.

As long as I have lot's of downward pressure on her she shouldn't slide sideways. Oh I will be careful the first few times towing for for sure.

Those look like great additions to Flasher's trailer goatram. I really like that bow stop. I already have side guides. I was going to put the spare tire on the yoke but I may relocate it and build a stop like that. I'm getting burned out though and need to go fishing.
