This is really great to read and follow..all this work and talk have got me thinking I need to put a hard top on mine. I bet the Bean Fab could do a fine job of that.

Got some more pictures for you all

So Vance/DB stopped by today to see the LITTLE GIRL in her raw unfinished state. Gave me a few suggestions to conceder. The best one is for the aft slider; have two sliding doors that when opened the windows are over the house windows in the back. I do like that one. The other was do without a kicker and use one of the mains.

Now for what was accomplished this weekend; the 4' x 5' x 18" deep fish box is complete, all of the frames are completely welded as are the stringers running for and aft, we had to cut 4 pieces of 3/16" plate for bulkhead walls. This gives the boat 4 compartments that will be water tight. The last being the swimstep. Don't have a picture the fish boxes yet.

My Son using what is called a Meat Axe. That is a 4.5" Carbide Bit saw blade that cuts and flings metal (Sharp Pieces) at your hand. If one is not Careful with it; It will cut you bad hince the Name Meat Axe

Now for the Installation of the Fuel Tanks, Fishbox and Floors to begin today while I am at work on a Sunday. Gotta make some Money to pay for all of the stuff I have been buying. Parts received so far are: 16 Gallon Water Tank, The Dual Binnicle(#704), double key switch for yamaha, wire harnesses for Yams, and a Premade 12 place switch panel,

John, what/how are you running all the wire and controls from the helm back ?
Are you making a conduit or just letting them lay?

Planning on having Conduit.
Above or below the decks that is the question that I am pondering now.

My Northriver has metal tabs welded into the Gunnel that all of the wires are run in and zip (Boeing term "Panduit") tied into a bundle. I have cut into that bundle often adding and deleting wires as needed. Hewescraft has their 2 conduits in the same area.

1. How hard is it going to be to pull more wire in and out of the conduit? Unknown by me!
2. From the Helm to the Transom will be aprox. 22'
3. Contemplating a second station or get the remote from Simrad for my AP. Easier and about the same cost for either.


This week I need to work on the Center Floor Supports and working out the Bilge Pump Locations. 2000 GPH Rules on a Float and a Switch times 3; one each for the swim step fish deck and house with a little 750 GPH one up front under the cuddy. Get it all ready for Saturday when the boys will be in to weld it in.

I went up to the City of Bellingham to return a couple of things I got from the LFS store. While there I also picked up the Fuel Lines, (1.5" fill and the 5/8" vent) Still need the 3/8" line, Clamps, 4 Aluminum Pipe union fittings in 1.25" size and a MARELON® through hull and shutoff valve. The Foundry near Coldwater and Pacific Boats Factories has the Water Screen pickups in Cast Aluminum.Still a bunch of little things to get done before the floors can be welded down. All decisions that need to be made

John, go by Pacific Boats and see how they are done, no zip ties . Just leave a pull wire in there to use in the future.

Run two vent lines, one to the rear of the tank and one to the front, that way you can for sure fill the tank ALL THE WAY on or off the trailer.

Each tank will have two vents; front and back 5/8" Fitting 3/8 pipe to a barb joined in the middle by a 5/8" "T" Fitting to the Perko Style Fill Port.
mine are from GEM but are like this one from perko.

The tanks will also have a extra fuel pickup already installed to draw out any water that gets into the Tank. I got 14' of 1.5" fill hose and 30 foot of vent hose. I still need to get the regular heavy duty below decks fuel line for the engines as well as the

I would go at least 4" , some of those cables don't like to bend real tight

I'm maxed out on what I can get thru the rigging pipe on my LaConner and its not that small. One issue is the size of the connectors and fittings that typically need to go through and the other is the way cables and hoses tend to get twisted or overlaid in the tube clogs things up faster even when trying to be neat. If you do a pipe make it as big as possible . . .

Here I was thinking no one cared enough cause I always click the new post threads button. Some how I missed your two new posts here.

Bob that is why I was and still am thinking about doing the Gunnel Support run. I am torn on it. To do 4" Aluminum Pipe need about 40' and the room to run it. but I can weld it in and make it water tight. Plastic conduit like what Terry did on the Reel Song I need bulkhead fittings and glue. My bundle in the NR is about 2 to 2.5" dia. Easy access to change wires without cutting off the connectors is a big plus. G.D. Lowrance Came out with a New HDS touch screen in a 12" size after they just came out with the Gen 2 ones this spring @$3250. Got a few more weeks to think on it.

Road trip in the Morning to go to Second Wave in Ballard (Used and New Boat Sh!t) and to pick up a piece of Aluminum Diamond plate for my cuddy roof Mod near Lake Union.

Got a sink and a couple of Ground Bus Bars. I then met up with a guy and got a sheet of 1/8" diamond plate to complete the Cuddy with Cheap. So overall a good day. :thumbsup:

I have been working on the boat for the past week. I am not as fast as you all that do it for a living. Just slow constant work will get me to the end when I will get to fish it. Hopefully in May.Might not have all of the bells and whistles in it when I get it titled and registered. Good thing there is less tax I have to pay at the time of reregistration and every year after. :hammer:

The floor structure is coming together. Jamie finished the tanks on last Wednesday. I made the frame for the water tank Thursday and Friday morning. It got welded in on the port side first thing on Saturday.

Saturday morning the rest of the floor structure started to be installed. Four more 3" "U" were installed and tied to each other by 2" angles spaced 2' apart. I am still cutting the floor support pieces that go out to the hull. The Frames are set every 36" so those supports will be at 18" spacing. Currently there is no plans for a side gutter to capture the water and channel it back to the sump drains in the aft corners. (Still to be built 8"x12" boxes)

Ken aka Flasher showed up on Saturday and stayed till my wife fed him and I around 8 pm. With his help we got the fish box located and insulated.

Here is the fishbox for the transom. It measures 56" wide by 12.5" long X 12" deep. It will be insulated be the aluminum bubble rap and or styrofoam. It will also function as a bleed tank/precooler/cooler.

My Son Jamie TIGed up the frames for the hatches on the bench after they were fitted and spot welded in the boat. They are 2 for the fish box and one for the battery compartment.

The fish box was installed and the floor structure was continued to be fabricated. The bait tank's location was worked out by Ken yesterday. It will be located 3" fwd the aft end of the fish box running aft 18" . It will be able to be removed and a floor panel will installed for the 9 months of Salmon fishing.

The batteries will be located in the bilge aft of the future bait tank. I will be placing walls and a floor in the battery compartment for dry storage of buoys and lines and other stuff.
Been shopping on Ebay, The Hull Truth, and the Local Harbor Marine Store in Everett getting things that I need now before the floors go in. Along with a few other things like Pumps, Yamaha 704 Dual Binnickle, Engine Harnesses, Double Key Switch, 10 Hatch Latches. Someone on BD offered a New Marine Fridge for Half price. Still waiting on Model # to check and see if it is indeed half off. Gregs Marine Wire.com bill if ordered today is $544 just for the wire and terminals. Still need the lights, fuse panels, more switches and panels to complete the electrical side

How's the microwave going to work...Gen or invertor? If you got an air compressor...are the horns air? Auto fog horn control. Auto pilot...is that mentioned someplace! How about the steering and control system for the kicker.

Is that DOW BLUE BOARD? If you have an ESPAR diesle heater why not a deisel stove, instead of butane? I saw one mentioned in the EARTH ROAMER EXPIDITION RV site! A cool place to get ideas for boats too!

This is really coming along. Since you are at it why don't you accomdate seawater circulation for the tanks...at least set up the wires and fittings capped off for future pump etc.

I don't understand the comment about the drain sills...aren't you installing a self bail deck? Or are they depressed edges of the deck so everything runs back?

Radar platform and power...all you antenna leads...distress position only GPS unit or similar...stern light or combo fore/aft/anchor on overhead...get a good one...they can be a pain....but the LED one may be much better. How about your underwater stern lights? Searchlight on cabin roof! Are the fans for window defrost...there are ones with heaters for that purpose in 12 volt...truckers use them. Duct for heater to windows when it is running and to fore cabin to take the chill off and dry stuff.

Tie Bar for the Kicker with speed control by a 703 binnicle

I finally received the Original Plans for the hull of my boat. It is a "Coronado" designed by Ken Hankinson. Plans sold on the Glen-L website. Supposed to be a 25.8' boat with a flybridge. 120 gallon twin tank setup. http://www.boatdesigns.com/26-Corona.../products/807/ can be modified to 28' 3" which mine was.

Who did the initial welding is still Unknown. I thought it was Riddle but I am not so sure now. Cause of the Design.

I see that you have some good ideas and thoughts...AS I suspected you would!!!
One thing I did in my camper and on my old charter boat way back when...I installed an inline 3" duct 12v blower...it pushes air to the far reaches, where the system blower is lacking...ESPAR may have a strong blower...camper system is lacking that strength, It is switched, and the old charter boat system sucked heat from behind the Dickenson stove and pushed it to the fore cabin and windsheild...worked well!
You as I are thinking of things from our expereinces, which is really GOOD! Your new boat is going to be close to being exactly your dream...I say close as ALL boats are a compromise of some sort.
Keep posting pics and it will be great to see this baby. Hope you had a good turkey day...did you know that 88% of Americans had turkey! :clap: PJ

This weekends activity; most of the activity was accomplished minus a camera with the pictures. So take my word on it; OK?

Friday I spent the morning in the shop cleaning the floor and boat of metal shavings. So far I have at least 10lbs in an empty 50lb dog food bag.(Alpo for the inquiring minds). Might be a few cigarette butts in there. I did make a run to Ken's for some electrical wire that my buddy Vance dropped off.

The actual work accomplished Friday was installing the welded fishbox hatch frames along with drilling the bulkhead behind the two fuel tanks for two 3" electrical conduits that I using as my wire and cable ways. I also installed 1ea. 2" conduit for fuel lines. All three tubes have 90* elbows installed both ends. The other thing done was welding in the outer floor supports around the perimeter.

Saturday was a trip to Harbor Marine to pick up some 14 gauge electrical wire. Needed for bilge pumps and fuel sending wires. (Wire is not cheap for the tin chit) I called BBQ Bob (Just became a neighbor about 5 miles away. Nice house good party place to be.) Dropped by and got the nickel tour. Damn its nice. Left there and ran home to see Ken and Dave waiting.

Set Dave to working on installing the potable water tank lines and fittings. Ken installed the mid compartment bilge pump. We then started to put holes in the boat. 10 to be exact. The three tank deck fills (gas and water) three hatch covers, three thru hulls for the bilge pumps and last but definitely fubared bait tank drain. Some how with the port side hatch drain tube in we marked and drilled it and it fit. Now we did kill a bottle if Clown Oil. Today it don't fit and i have not figured this out yet. :banghead:

Yesterday I ran all of the fuel tank lines and wires along with again cleaning up the metal shavings around and under the tanks. I did find a few tools there as well. My day playing was cut short due to a plane coming in from Japan with a set of wings.

Today fiddle fsticked around and got the floor sump parts cut and fitted up. The hole saw says that it is a 2 3/8" one. It's not; try 2 1/2". My son welded the fish box drain to a plate that will be welded to the transom. This plate is down in the V port side covers up a 1/2" pre existing drain hole. Also the location of the pipe in relation to the bottom would make it near impossible to weld the pipe water tight. Hence the need for the plate.

The other thing he did was weld up the 90* elbows for the floor sump drains.

Mark Crown Royal is the Clown Oil of which I spoke of. Once enough has been consumed all bets are off.

Work boat show only produced one picture. A missing window of a 747. I received it around 2:30 pm by text. It seemed that the Capt of the Aircraft Cracked it that Morning prior to flight. The guys on second shift needed me to sign it off but I had taken Vacation cause there was no activity scheduled.

How'd the Captain crack the winshield...he stand up to fast or did the second officer apply the brakes too fast and the Capt didn't have his seat belt fastened? :clap:
