Bob; The manager said she got better fuel economy that way. He said she was towed out. I corrected him and that confirmed that she Should be set to come home on Saturday. I will be at the Defiance Boats Showroom for the day if you want to come on down. I got those screws for the windows for you

Re: The Journey Begins
Actually our best time is now, March through to July, we see all the warm currents come down from up north, bringing the big beakies (marlin) plus others down with it. Instead of being out there I spend my days trying to remember how it all goes back together, which bolt goes where and so forth.
excuse my lack of knowledge when dealing with outboards, are those Honda's 6's or 8's? What sort of fuel consumption do you think you will be getting? Whats the capacity of each donk?
I wont ask about performance as 500 of those little ponies are definitely going to push you along nicely!

Re: The Journey Begins
I need to update this thread. The Motors were hung. The Question was asked Thursday afternoon; "Issues?" with no responce. So Friday night I get the call at 5 pm saying my transom has to be raised by 5". It seems I bought a set of 30" motors. I never say the motors till this past Saturday Morning when I drove down for a Shindig at Defiance Marine. I made the decision that since the boat was already there and Bo the Owner assured me that they had qualified welders employed that they could do the Mod of raising the engines by 5". So yesterday and this morning they had to send a driver to Seattle to get the proper material to do the mod. Since they are primarily a Plastic Boat Builder (Defiance Boats); they did not have the right stock laying around. Even I would have had to have gotten the extrusion and plate myself. Just Saying.
Bo Thanks for making it happe. Tomorrow I will give thanks to the Welders and Riggers as well. Lunch on me. Pizza! No Beer! They will be working on other boats in the Afternoon.
The boat is almost done. Welding is complete just rehanging the engines tonight. Tomorrow morning they will seal and bleed the steering system. Complete by 9:00 am or shortly after. Test run maybe; tides will be right. Either way it will be in my yard tomorrow night.
Thursday morning I have a John Baird, of Zenith Maritime Services, going to be at my house for a survey. I need one to get my Insurance.
I am having Anchor Marine, Ron Brockman and BoatUs give me quotes.
Fish next Thrusday
Side note i had to replace my Brake Calipers on the trailer holding my "Tin Lizzy". I found them bad Saturday night. I had three of the four calipers working. I broke two of the four bleeder screws off trying to bleed the brakes. The one caliper that would not work had a good screw that I could bleed.

Re: The Journey Begins
Got Miss Eliza Home. She is parked along the road at the bottom of the driveway now. Been a long BACK SIDE day so far got to bed at 1 am up at 6:30 out the door by 7am. Got to Port Orchard 2 hours later boat is having an issue with the SB engine; Mini Bus Fuse 150 amp for charging is popped. Stole one from a new engine in the shop and good to go. Launch the boat at 10:30am after paying for it. The boat lists a little to the SP side but that might be the fuel issue. Not venting properly. Gotta fix after the Survey in the Morning. Boat ran 47 mph on a flat day leaning to the starboard side. I ordered the Props from North Harbor Propeller in Anachortis WA. a Set of four Blade 15 Pitch. Ran it today on a set of 3 blade Power tech 17P. Boat was not loaded fully and Jeff (used to work at PT down in LA) says that is the prop I want. 28 MPH at 4000 RPM. Honda Unit Said 7.4GPH. Could not verify till I hook up the engines to the Lowrance Head Units.

Re: The Journey Begins
I assume your were burning 7.4 per motor, right? Those silver motors look alright on the back, too. I am a bit curious as to going with the 4 blade 15 P props. Patience is about 14K when I load her extremely heavy and the F250s will spin a pair of 14.25 x 17P 4 blades up to 6K RPMs. Do the silver motors have a different lower unit gear ratio? I am a bit envious of the 4000 RPM cruise. Very nice!
Spending my kids inheritance with them, one adventure at a time.

Re: The Journey Begins
Pete
Issue came up this morning. I ordered the props yesterday at closing time for the factory. This morning word was sent to North Harbor Propeller that the Left hand Prop will not ship till next Friday. I ordered a set of 3 blade 17P in the interim. Also a up charge to 2nd day air to get them to me by Tuesday. I then have to run them 40 miles north to get the Hubs installed for Honda.
Fuel Flow will be determined once I get the Lowrance system up and connected

Re: The Journey Begins
Crew is hard at work while I am at work SOB, Pictures to come tonight. Found the Cuddy was having a drinking problem and Miss Eliza was Retaining Water in her Bilge. What a LITTLE GIRL. Found a few welds that where not water tight. They are now fixed. Tim aka Stumpy last week had a set of Lenco Electric Trim Tabs; Sunday he dropped them off at the house and took a tour of the Young Boat. Today we cut her Butt to make them fit. Tomorrow I will mount up The Actuators and do the Ops Check.
Today the Wiring on deck to be finished by Sunday. Mike Stryker 20 will be helping along with the guy from Munson Boats. Albert is a certified ABYC Tech.
As I said Pictures to come. So Hang in there.

Re: The Journey Begins
Got to take her fishing and running around on the great Pacific Ocean. She has a few issues that need to be addressed.
I.e.
1. Wet cuddy
2. All four bilge pumps failed
3. RC42 flux gate compass fail
4. Scuppers need to be improved upon
5. Water spray control; roof and gunnels to the back deck.
6. Voltage Sensing Relays from BEP Sux wind. They do not work! Issues on this boat. Tin Lizzy and Flasher's boat as well as Coldwater's boats.
7. Downriggers to be rewired with 10/2AWG wire.

Boat work/repairs in progress.
The bow leaks are first to be worked. We are boxing in the edge plate.
The last two pictures is where the most water is coming from.

Re: The Journey Begins
John, looking at that great pic of your boat. I can see that all the tall stuff on the cabin top is way forward so should be no problem height-wise since that part of the boat will be outside of the building when I get it in far enough to lift it. That might also apply to Jaimie's boat come to think of it . . . I wonder if he is still looking to paint?
I'm working on this 26 Bayweld and the gear up top was going to be too tall but ended up not being a problem because of how far the boat stuck out of the front of the shop
