Running well. Sips fuel, Likes to run with a full load of ice in the fishbox and Bait tank full. 600 to 700lbs of tuna are no problem either. Bring it on. 32 mph at 4200 RPM Saturday loaded 6 souls on board

Those are some very good numbers, do you have any idea of fuel burn with that load. I'm going for 2+ MPG.

This has been an incredible thread on many accounts. Your ability to design, modify and build, (and your crews skills) a big water fishing machine. Documenting the complete process of getting to the final results. Your obvious sea and fishing experience in testing and tweaking to obtain an excellent result. And to top it off the performance and numbers you got with real world loads and water. Well if you ever hang a right and get lost for a couple days coming out of La Push I'd be honored to share a beer with you.

Thanks for the ride
Gary

OK John, one more question, will one motor get her up on step and keep her there?

Unfinished hull to Bloody Decks , that is way AWESOME.

Gotta try that this week with the Bait tank and Fish hold Flooded.

I will say the Journey is not complete yet. October the interior will be finished so stand by for News and Entertainment

The Answer to your question is no fully loaded from a tuna trip on return.
Tally so far for tuna slayed on the boat is 216 ea over 8 trips for a 27 fish average per trip. 4.5 fish per person.

Another question for those that play with engine setup/motor position/Height and toe in toe out. What can you see from this picture? Motor is trimmed for running. Saturday morning running out to the grounds doing 19.5 MPH With my lights on for effect. Got a rooster tail :titanic:

DAMN

disco party.....yer wake almost looks like that Miami crowd. Next you'd have to do multi-blinking colors to keep up and have that Thong girly on the bow.

What we actually need now that you went from a bone-hull to tournament fish catcher is a nice detailed set of MORE photos.
But that can wait till winter when you're millin' around the shop just needing something to do. (of course a nice sunny winter day would be great)

I've looked and still want mo'.

I noticed that the bottom paint(?) goes up the side in the stern. Which poses an interesting question......"WHY?"

Do ya'll have "creeping" growth up yonder :?: :rotfl: :rotfl: Or is that Astetics excuse my spelling.

Fan-farkin-tastic :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

Dave the paint went up the sides to hide the marks from cutting off of the slanted rub rail we cut off. One of the cool things that we thought would work; but in practice found the Flaw. The aft facing rail would help make the back deck wetter.

Dang......love that intro. Of course.

Can ya next time bottle all that tuna blood, and send it to me in a freezer box. So I can use it to attract JAWS. Or a 10' Hammerhead would be cool.

Thanks Mike.
As to the meat being damaged. Not much a few belly shots were made but the guts and gills are removed shortly after they hit the deck and bled. Prior to their ice bath we clean them on the deck an separate the nasty guts from them and stick them in the fish hold.

Friday night I met up with Dave aka fogdocker in Everett and headed to Westport. Found my shore power turned off and my house batteries dead. The dock side CB was off with the light on. I reset the CB and went to bed.

Saturday I brought home Miss Eliza from Westport in the storm. First thing Dave and I had to do was replace the left hand middle caliper on the trailer in the down pour and wind in the trailer parking lot. Thought I could just bleed that one and be done. But later I would realize my error. My Antilock brakes on the truck works great. Trailer was slow to apply the brakes causing the truck to work a little harder.

We stopped at the weigh station just outside of Aberdeen to finally figure out the total weight of her fully fueled and my tongue weight as well. Tongue wt was 1670lbs. Total trailer wt 14900lbs minus the trailer wt of 3200 lbs the boat's wt is 11700lbs. Add in a tote of ice and 60 gallons of water in the bait tank and a few dozen tuna; her combat load is around 15,000lbs with six guys on board. Her fuel usage was between 64 to 72 gallons. Run in speed with this load at 4500rpm was around 32mph. That said I think my motors were too low in the water and the motors had too much toe in.

Yesterday I raised both engines one hole. I also reset the alignment of the motors to attain 1/4 toe out. I have to fix a bad wash down pump for the transom kill box. Actually wire in a 800 gallon bait pump that is now temporarily wired to plug on to a Scotty connector.

I know not on your high priority list right now. But you need some of these:

http://www.carolinaclaw.com

Since your fishing some of those "SoCal-Headboat rods".

Now for some more of the story. Dave showed at 9 am and Jim the Welder showed up a half hour later. We quit at 5 pm. We had a few refreshments along the way; Clown oil and Blue Boar Beer.

We got the roof extension nailed down with the Lincoln 350P. I bent up the new rod rack pipe this past week. It is matched to the bends of the roof. It still needs the rod holders welded on. To do this a bunch of .5" pipe 1" long need to be cut out (coped to fit) as standoffs. I have 28 holders prepped for install.

Still need to get some more 1" pipe to make the matching rail for the Starboard side. I also will have a hand rails below the extension. The extension flairs up from the cabin aft.

The six rod holders are ready as well for the bait tank. Three to each side. This will mean 52 holders counting the six fixed on the gunnels and the 12 on the radar arch. That should stop all talk of who has the most.:sly:

I also started to prep for the emergency hatch in the cuddy and the vent in the cabin. The holes are cut and the windows are temp installed. I am content with the work done today.
