Some more to add of the work that took place this past Saturday. I stopped by Coldwater Boats Today and they got a 36' on the jig and looks like they might finally get the 29' X 9' sport boat built as well. Russ aka CWB where you at for the Porn?

that is what is great about an alloy boat, and having the skill to work on it. You can always keep improving it! I know what you mean about the lag in recent posting activity. I finally got around to posting some stuff over on the red site too, mostly about the great coho fishing from mid august to mid October this year (as Bainbridge Mike), and it has definitely slowed down a lot!

I like the roof extension. You probably mentioned this towards the beginning of the thread, but can you sleep in the cuddy? When will she see the water again?

I sleep in the cuddy. It is no where near the size of yours. But two can sleep in there.

Halibut starts in May and deep water Lings open on early April. I have asked for 3 months moorage in LaPush but the Tribe as a new Harbor Master and there is list that I am on. End of March is a big Blackmouth Derby that I want in on. So May is the no Doo-doo gotta be done by. April is when I need it by and March is the date of a good party in Anachortis over the weekend of the derby.

I also like that overhang extension. And how many rod holders was that? 52?

Have you gotten to run since you raised the engines? Been following some threads on fishing boards where the owners have gotten good results as well as better tab effectiveness. You've got a Destroyer size fish killing machine there, can't wait to see her battle ready, decked out with tackle filled holders and stuff. Bet the MissHayden's Captain is taking note of this escalation in the rod holder arms race.

Oh, as to the decline in recent posting, it isn't unique to here by any stretch. The fan board I follow for UGA is only getting 2-5 new posts a Day during the Week, more as Game Day approaches. The Catfish site has a vast membership and dozens of boards but the ones I play on have been quiet with the exception of the restricted board, which has been en fuego since this ACA mess has unfolded. THT hasn't been turning over as quickly either now that I think about it since I do look at the sales and gear boards. Football season, the Holidays approaching, families re-connecting, lots of stuff happening to keep folks' busy. And the Fairs....a different one every Weekend. Grandson is going to be so spoiled that we could use him as a WMD.

I need to update the thread. This Weekend starts Verrrrry Sooooon and Work can not call me in do to the Head Cheese said I have worked four Weekends in a row. The limit! I have to take one off before they can make me work another 4. SOG! Work has been picking up but We, the Local 751 Voted down the $10,000 Boneus that we would have gotten if we had accepted the 8 year contract extension that International IAM and the Company concocted. Time will tell if we did the right thing.

The extension is now fully welded in. The rod holders will be spaced at 6.75" apart. We cut all of the holders from the old piece and then cleaned up. I cut the 1" pipe as shown on page 103. Now we started to fit the first 5 to the rail.

goatram, looking at the post 327 I noticed the progression of the overhang and railing changes and I think I like the looks of the (vertical) side rail better before is was modified.

In the first photo (#327) the after cabin side side (vertical) rail has a single bend, and at 110-115 degrees, ends under the overhang and it looks clean, IMO.

Below, the upper rail is added and it looks like at one time it aligned with the lower vertical rail? (down a few photos) but then the vertical rail was trimmed and a new piece added which has another bend and a return so the top of the vertical rail now ends aft the new top rail.

I like the vertical rails' top end look better when they were directly under the new added top rail.

The new horizontal section (lower vertical rail's new top 3 bend piece) may give a better hand hold climbing out of the cockpit to the gunwale (?) but I preferred the look of those two rails to lining up, the upper one looking like it was a continuation of the lower one.

just mentioning the looks side of that mod; nice mod to the bait tank cover-that looks good.

Kevin I see what you mean. Must be something to do with design/welders. "Jim" the guy in the Pics Said the same thing. Now you pointing it out to me I see it as well. The hand hold is for when you are standing in the back and both hands are holding the rails and you look around the Cabin. I will discuss this with Jim again. I am taking him on a field trip to see the Work Boat Show this Friday in Seattle.

I have not taken many pictures yet of the work accomplished this weekend. Mostly prep work and on the interior. I still need 4 more pieces of 1 & 3/16" X 3/8" Teak Batten Strips to finish off the interior Modes. I also took out the Galley Station to get at the windows for trim and Insulation. 15 rod holders are now welded on the backside of the pipe above the roof. 13 more are welded and ready for installation on the front side of the pipe. the one I did take is of the new Mill that I am using to make a window for my Bait Tank. The tank will have two windows. The windows are 1/2" Plexiglass. The cut out will be 10" X 20" or so. The window will be set into the tank outside flush.

I would not change the overhang/hand rails/rod holders. I think they look bad BACK SIDE!

To continue the work on the cuddy I had to start cutting the chunk of teak left over from the Galley. This piece was ripped to about .070" thick by 2" to wrap around the Ceiling Vent
The next couple of pictures are the Bait tank Windows that I am installing. The 11" X 15" x 1/2" pieces of Plexi Glass was sourced from Tap Plastics and Cut on the New Mill I got from Vance DB. They will be drilled and tapped for 10-32 screws. The screws will hold the windows in place while the Sika Flex sealant (Like 5200) sets up. Two windows are being installed front and back on the tank.

Clown Oil makes for steady hands! Another good use besides drinking it
Seats are welded in. I still need to get the right bolts and have a set of cushions made for them. 1" foam pad and black vinyl.

The rod holders are welded up still need to clean them up a bit. 28 ea. 15 on the back side and 13 on the fwd face. With them, the 6 on the bait tank, the 6 on the gunnel, and the 12 on the front radar mount equals 52 each. OVER KILL? Yes!
The RBW has small blue LED lights that are 1/4" dia. that are installed flush in the roof structure. A little 5200 sealant will hold them in place for awhile. Wiring is all hidden in the tube. What a pain in the BACK SIDE.

Looks great, John. I really like the fold up seats. I think you have room for a few more rod holders.

I would go for an even 60, might be a world record. I like it.

Saw this Grip Tape at the Seattle Boat Show. I Got one 12" X 48 Section from them as the show was closing. The tape is a vinyl strip with particles cast into it. It seems to work.

It was in the Light gray color. I cut it into two inch strips on my old 10" Carbide Tip Blade. Right after which I changed the blade. Sparks where flying that was for sure. I wiped down the fish box and applied half of three of the strips to the Bottom. The Box sloops down toward the center and when your stuffing tuna in the ice feet tend to slip in there to the center. The product claims to stay in place in the cold wet environments; We shall see. Today I ordered up another two strips to finish the box and toying with the Idea of applying it to the top of the deck instead of painting. The second product they have has metal studs that are inset in the vinyl. Those studs really locked your feet to their display at the show.

The Journey is coming to an end soon. I am finishing up the interior paneling, the Kicker Mount is partially completed, next up is the control mount for the kicker and finally the Dive doors. Slider?
