Hi zumpen,
I have TIG & MIG welded as a hobby for years. TIG welding is a lot of fun and can produce very high quality welds. When my son and I built our boat last year I though I would TIG weld the entire hull but soon realized this would be nearly impossible. You would have a very hard time working the foot pedal while trying to reach over the side of the hull to weld inside seams or stringers that are down in the bottom of the boat. Some guys may be able to but I couldn't. It is great for stuff like hand railings or top side seams that are easy to get to and will be seen. I would still take the class as you can do some neat things with a TIG welder. Just wanted you to be realistic about welding a hull with it.
