Welding shields don't last for ever

#1

Post by gandrfab »

This is about 14 years old, Just starting to look for a new one.
My local stores have a seemingly limited supply.
What available, works well, and is durable?

This isn't working well, it was supposed to be a seeking recommendations thread.

here's what I use but they're not giving them away. I've used this model for years, and had to replace once, due being dropped repeatedly.

cheers,

I'm a Miller Digital Elite guy. I have two of them. One is set-up with the Miller cooling fan, it doesn't really filter the air. It does keep fresher air blowing across your face on the hot, humid days. The other helmet I try to keep clean for TIG welding.

All my employees have them (why not, Bob buys the cover plates). I think we had one go bad which Miller warrantied. There are probably more high tech helmets , but for us its a workhorse.

For what it is worth, I think the Miller helmets have a pretty good rebates going on right now. I have one and really like it. Mine does have a black spot in one corner from a bad drop, but it doesn't really effect line of sight.
