Dock Cart

#1

Post by goatram »

Well my old dock cart Doo-doo the bed after three years staying in Westport, WA on the boat. I bought the cart from Lowes on the way to launch the boat in July of 2013. Last year the tires were worn bare when it was dragged to the laundry mat weekly by a Commercial Fishing friend that had no car. He drove the boat up the coast from Kalli This year the rust got it bad. The sides at the pins holding the sides on fell apart. Time for a replacement. SOB!!!

The New cart is 54"L X 24"W made from Aluminum 5086 .250" thick. I bent 1/2" Aluminum 6063 Sch 40 pipe to match the base and welded down. A second rail was formed that is held off of the first by 4" standoffs. I bought 4 new wheels and tires from Harbor Freight @ $15 a pop. The axle is aluminum 5/8" 6061 dia rod. The mounts are 1/4" plate. The front axle pivots on a 1/2" SS bolt with a 8" circle of UHMW that's 1/8" thick. The handle is 2" square notched to hang over center. The grip is 1.25" pipe. Jim my friend did the welding of it using the Lincoln 350MP

I will be adding Pictures to the thread by way of my phone shortly

The cart is used to transport ice from my insulated tote to the boat. It also transport the fish and gear back to the truck at the end of the day.

I am walking now. Still having Nerve pain in the foot and pain in the Knee but the leg is healing and Physical Therapy is working on my strength. 23 years ago I broke my right leg in Nov "92" on my "87" Yamaha RM 250 In Jun "93" Said I was healed and I rebroke it on my New "92"RMX 250 on a jump. I was stronger back then this time. Suxs to get old.

No more broke bones. Boating and fishing as well playing in my shop are my hobbies now. The last 3 weeks I have been spending a lot of time in the shop. got some more projects to post as I finish them. Lights for Squidding and Fish cleaning tables.

Going to make at least one more cart to be donated to the Washington Tuna Classic. They support the Wounded Warriors and the Local NW Harvest Food Bank in Grays County, WA
