Akcat,
You do know if you post a picture and it has the scroll bars , under and next to it , you can put your mouse on it and left click one time and the bars will go away and the picture will get bigger.
To put it back just left click the same picture one more time.

I am still in awe how fast she has come together. Impressive! Is that an electra-dyne pot puller? She is looking fantastic! i think you need to plan a trip like JRogers!

no it's a kensimatic(sp) like my anchor... it's hydraulic. I wish I could take the trip, but we don't do a lot of fence and guardrail in the winter :). I'll be down there this Friday, c-trial on Saturday and Sunday.. then it goes on the barge Tuesday and then it'll be in anchorage and in possession on Sunday. :) I can't wait .

Wow. Very nice.
Even though I am a long time satisfied Armstrong customer, I have not crossed over to the cat side. Please keep us informed as to your perceptions of the ride and performance of the rig.

Good morning
I was just there with Josh, Armstrong Sr and Bob. Solid build. Curious! Why did you opt for a cat instead of a single hull design? Have you driven both and found the ride to be significantly smoother? How does it handle coming over big waves? I guess it would rock less out at sea anchored.

BEAUTIFUL and functional
Now we need to see pictures of Fish.
And of course we want your numbers, fuel burn , speed and what ever else ya can give us.
In your last picture it looks like you did a hard turn , how does it handle through the turns and does she porpoise or does she ride stable smooth ?
I want one

Looks great on the water! I like the name, also. When will she arrive up north? I would love to take a tour. Cats have piqued my interest.

Thanks everyone. It was a good trip and learned a lot more as far as the handling of a cat.

She'll go on the ship Tuesday and be here a week from today, Sunday the 14th.

She topped out at 52.6mph @6,250 RPM
@36knts she as burning 12.3 per side
@30 knts. burning 10.2 per side
@ 26 knts. burning 8.8 a side
As far the last picture goes. it's a simple answer, doesn't matter if I was doing 40+knts. or 14knts it turns flat and steady. It feels like your on two rails. The boat didn't porpoise at all. What I had a hard time with was after 20 knts ( very smooth riding at this speed and slower) is the faster you go the smoother it gets. At 26 knts in 4' with wind doesn't feel as nice as 30knts or 36 knts.
The other thing that I really like is with a deep v mono when people get up and move around you have to play with your trim for the adjusted weight, not on the cat. There some down sides I found too. The boat sure likes to quarter rather them take em' straight on like my old boat ( you end up altering course) and when your cruising at a lower speed and your in a following see the cat just feels different on the backside of waves. the boat like to sit bow high and when you berry that bow it feels funny.

Re: Pics of new Cat #2
the motors felt great. they had more than enough power and were very smooth. It was refreshing to not hear and smell the diesel motors while running, and being able to have a conversation while running is nice too :). One thing that I noticed after 10 hours of running ( mostly by myself) is alloy is much louder then glass boats in general. I've been on lots of alloy boats, but I guess I never noticed it before.
Now I just have to hurry up and wait.

Re: Pics of new Cat #2
Ak, the other Alloy boats you were on were they foam filled ? [ it keeps the noise down some ]
And yes the faster you go with a Cat hull the better she rides , it's the air cushion your ridding on . That makes for a NICE ride
I must have missed it but how much fuel does she carry ? and what type of heater are you running ?
And man does she look HUGEbehind that Chevy pick up

I have a two, toyo for the window defrost/ berth and a wallace cook top with blower for a little something extra ( I had one on my other boat it works okay). The tanks are twin 180 gal. The boat weighs somewhere in the 12,000- 12,500 lbs. range.
Yeah it looks huge behind t hat truck doesn't it, I may have to put the 3/4 duramax to bed and take a BIGGER truck from work.
