GOOD QUESTION WELDER,

Its like Obama, lots of dreams and dreaming, but no real experience....

OPPS! did I say that?

But, maybe he like McCain...

With lots of hard earned experiences and he is an awesome welder,

There are a few CNC companies around that will sell the precut plates in a kit form.

I would contact some of the companies that sell designs and cut files and see what you can find out from them.

The Steven Pollard designed boats from Specmar are great and used by several builders.

Conrad Yachts has a new 25' cc that is specifically designed for amateur builders.

Here are some rough numbers:

If you can build the hull for under $12 per pound you are doing well + rigging+design fees+fabricator profit.

New 5086 plate varies from $3.75-$4.25 per lb. 4 mm thickness and weighs about 2.77 lbs per sqaure foot.

On mono hulls you will have between 15- 25% of scap depending on how well you can nest and what you cut out to save space. 35% material drop on cats and at least 3x the welding.

Welds usually add about 10% to the plate weight, and these material run around $10 per lb.

Cutting charges depend on linear feet of cut, and that varies in cost depending on the tools used- small circular saws, band or plunging saws, plasma, kerf cutting routers, lazer or water.
