Getting rid of salt residue or crusty type
I better get this out here, because for the next 10 days I am gonna be jam up fishing every day....people wait all month and then everyone wants the same exact days.
At least it's working $$!
Okay, has any ever heard that plain ole White Vinegar is good for getting salt off your boat.....crusty salt. And does the same kinda thing as "salt-away" or "Salt-X" products?
If anyone has found info on this "holistic" approach to not using chemicals, please provide where you found the info as so I can read it too.
Thanks,

I Think Joy Dishwashing detergent with warm water is all that is required .any houshold dish detergent and warm water with a soft brush will be all that is nessacery to remove salt residue and scum from the hull with out harming the protective coating on the boat and leave it looking as good as new.

It's so mild, though.....if so.welder wrote:Dave I don't think ya want to put viniger on your alloy boat isn't it an acid ?
Gawd I'm taking acid?????
I take 2 teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar twice a day to reduce Hyper tension, (aka: Blood pressure)
I believe pills suck!
SO I GUESS NO ONE HAS EVER HEARD THIS? THAT IT'S LIKE SALT-X OR SALT-AWAY? (WHICH BY THE WAY WORKS REALLY GOOD)

went and got me another EXPENSIVE bottle of Salt-away!
And am using it:
* on my reels
* as a periodical bath for the boat
* and as a engine flush.
Remember I had a salty t-stat problem on a year old Honda????

Per your link.....this is what I'm talking about.
"In households diluted acetic acid is often used in descaling agents"

Yes that is true , it does that .
But it don't like Magnesium and that is part of our Marine grade alloy .
The vineger will etch the alloy , soap and water is the best thing to use.
Remember Alloy = Mixture of metals , Where pure Aluminum is a whole nether critter.
