Looking @ a Pacific

#1

Post by Challenge »

Hello All,

I am going to look at a 2007 Pacific for sale this weekend... Are there any problem area that I should look for? Questions that I should ask? I've looked at lots of used boats but not many Pacific's and just curious if there are things to look out for.

I understand that it hasn't been used for a few years.

Thanks in advance.

I would just look into the power. Also look around the dog house for cracks

If the boat is/has been stored on a bunk trailer, be sure to look at the hull where it makes contact with the trailer for any signs of corrosion.

I also would take a jack and lift the boat off the bunks if it is stored on a carpeted bunk trailer ...a few inches and look for pitting. Other than that, a 2007 boat should outlive us by LONG TIME. There wont be any cracks around the console ...you could look, but there won't be any.

Rick,

If they installed a bilge pump aft look down inside for any potential corrosion issues.

Hell a 2007 may actually have that ALLOY inspection hatch in the deck versus that crappy armstrong deck plate.

If so, I'm jelous already.

Hasn't been used in a long time????? That should be against the law!! Is it that boat we've seen up north with the photo of the two women standing in front of it? called "Arnolds boat" or something? If so Jay sold that one and it was on his site's old Blog Pages, back when he did regular posts.

Hmmm.....we'll be standing by.

Thanks for all the thoughts, I spoke w/Julie at Pacific and she has been really helpful!

Cow... I do have a little alloy, this would be my ocean boat!

I will keep everyone posted.

Cheers
