just "google" the words <buy tef-gel> and several places are shown. I think I bought mine online at Jamestown Distributors.
As info, this is one of the stickiest "greases" I have ever used.

Not around here. They would look at you like you had 2 heads. + the cost would be about $20 for a 1oz tube. :(

I don't call it West "Bend Me Over" Marine for nothing.

I concur with v26wa where he said he was happy with the service from Jamestown Distributors. I've made several purchases from them and have been happy with their response. As info, tef-gel is relatively expensive until you think about the total cost of your boat, then it is just pennies.

Tef Gel is PTFE paste right? What's the difference between this stuff and common PTFE paste thread sealant? Definitely a difference in price, does it have some sort of unobtanium in it?

Skypoke,

are you a retired mind reader???

Problem is, I have a few hours to do a little job on the boat, tweak this, add that....now do I get on-line and buy Tefgel, wait for it to come, for 3- 2 minute jobs?

I was a pipe fitting/ HVAC hack before going fishing full time.

And used to work for a big mechanical contractor outfit that did a lot of paper mill work, Chilled water lines, chillers, etc. And I loved it. The nastier of the depths in the paper mill the repiping was, the more myself and the guys I worked with loved it. The bowels, is where those chilled water lines would run.

So, I'm talking about a corosive, caustic enviorment. Yeah the galv. steel pipe would need maintenance thats why I had a job. But we used nothing but buckets of teflon paste, a big stiff brush and slathered that stuff on real good like, and wound the next piece on those fresh cut threads. That pipe had not always "just water" going thu them but water chemicals mixed.

So with that being said.....I wouldn't doubt that a touch of plain ole teflon paste would make a boat fall apart on a screw or two.
