Modutec Marine in Tacoma does alloy work and can haul plus they let you work on your own boat usually in a tent area unless it is summer. That is a cool cruiser for sure! I see SEAK in your future! Capt PJ

That sure is a nice looking boat -- inside and out. Did I say that already? I guess I did. :)

Have to say what a beautiful looking boat, some of those guys were just masters at the art of putting boats together, that just screams out "look At Me" I have got character and curves to-boot!
Just going to throw my two Bob's in here, parts that look at little shot and pitted are normally worse than what you think, don't fool around with them, cut them out and replace with sheet, I,ve learnt the hard way there still learning. The paint blistering is easly fixed with a a scotch bright disk on a grinder, Itll come up like new. You will probarbly find that theres a fitting close by, stainless or some other metal, take the the fitting out clean up the area, and re-install using Duralac. It will create a barrier between the dissimilar meta;s and you should'nt have a probleme again.
Good Luck and Happy Boating

Well I couldn't make it happen. No valid hull ID= no finance, no insurance, no clear title, trouble with customs and trouble with resale. Spoke to transport Canada, it SHOULD have a HIN. It was built in 1994 and was Registered in BC. Transport Canada felt that it should have had a HIN at some point.

No way to tell if the title is clear, and no sure thing of being able to get it into the USA through customs, no proof that it is a NAFTA product either.

Still shopping for a 30' something aluminum boat that will sleep 4, has enough range, can tank some seas and can seat 4 for dinner inside and 4 on deck for to watch the world go buy...

I do like this but it is a bit out of price range

I've worked on Munson boats before doing oil spill work and they are damn near bombproof.

Hate to say it but there's not been very many cruising boats produced by the alloy builders. Most tend to be either rec fish boats, com fish boats or workboats, that tug was a rare animal and it was a one-off at that. For the amenities you want at the price point you have in mind I'd be shopping used FRP cruisers, trawlers or small yachts.

Yep. I know. The Munson is close... i have a 5 day seattle boat show ticket, a crappy economy and i just sold some real estate in my favor.

Even the FRP stuff is tough. There is a lot of crap on the market.

Yep, saw that... Doesn't look like they want to sell it too bad with that crappy photo...

I have been drooling over this:

If we trailered/dry stacked it, we could possibly swing it. A different boat for sure, but it looks well built

Man, I have been drooling over the over those Aeroheads since hull #1. If they would have been building the 30 footer when I was in the market, I probably would have pulled the trigger. We talked with designer. The cut files/kit are available. Here is my favorite pic:

It would be easy to retrofit it with a wallas cooktop. When we were talking with the designer, he said that it was overbuilt, hence the heavy weight. Pretty bomb proof.

Yep, saw that....

It's been for sale since April.. Wonder how motivated they are? Don't know much about the Volvo diesel. I don't have anything to tow the beast, I would probably dry stack it

Brett, did you work for Fastwater Marine in Richmond BC?

Or are you talking about the Aerohead?

We never ended up buying the Tug. We went under contract, had it surveyed, deposit, arranged for delivery and then tried to close through a marine documentation service to reduce the complexity of importing it from BC. The boat never had a true HIN assigned, its Canadian documentation was removed a week before the boat was put up for sale and the seller refused to get Transport Canada to issue a HIN. The Washington state registration that was previous to the boat being in Canada used the USCG doc number as the HIN.

In the end, I think we ended up OK. The boat was sold twice after that, but it took the originally seller 18 months to sell after we walked. The next owner had a giant custom gooseneck trailer built (crazy big for the displacement hull) and then never used the boat and it went up for sale last year, I never heard what happened after that.

It was unique!
