Treating aluminum before coal tar epoxy?

Does new aluminum need to be treated with alumiprep/alodine (or similar) before applying coal tar epoxy?

Expoxy requires a rough enough surface to anchor, so a sanding will always help.

dupont, sherwin williams, tenmec, etc., all have product info pages on the internet.

2 coats of Coal Tar Epoxy is not a real heavy coating.

It smells like tar, but doesn't act like it.

Wipe the surface with wax & grease remover using the 2 rag method BEFORE you sand the surface with 80gt on a DA sander.

Use a West system roller cover to roll the coatings on. it's a pholinic core roller. A cheap box store roller cover will fall apart in about 3min and make a mess.

4lb density foam is the standard to foam a fuel tank.
