Hi Rip,

I have had my boat for only a couple of weeks, but I am going to do some performance testing with 2 different props this Summer with my 2003 Yamaha 225 (less HP than a Honda 225 I believe) and I will post all details of course.

What are your numbers?

Dave,
Thanks very much.
I have made some adjustments including having the engine tested to ensure it is puting out the power it should and raising the trim tabs. When this is done I should have updated numbers. But I think I should be getting better speed and fuel economy than I am.

Guys also take into consideration the shaft length (30" I'm assuming), prop pitch & material and the # mount hole you are on. It makes a difference........just my 2 cents

Oh no...... here we go with performance numbers.

At least no one is selling a 1984 30' Scarab with twin two thirsty fives on the transom, because (om another forum I know of) this could go on for weeks.

Performance to me is 1. does it start every time? 2. does it get me there? 3. does it suck my slim wallet clean?

If the answers are; yes, yes, and no. I be good!

Yeah Dave, we all know that WOT performance is not the reason any of us are fans of our boats. But it is always good to know that our motors are performing as intended. Right?

There's so many different sea conditions, wind speeds, weight carrying done, I can't get into all that detail stuff.

AlloyToy's talking a fuel management gauge. That's the only way.
They work great (just do not buy a Flowscan brand) and best of all they tell ya when your motor's running like crap, when that
9 GPH cruise that you're used to seeing goes to 13 gallons per hr.

UT OH, Time to change the plugs!!!!!

I agree with who ever said, get ya a Honda 150/200/225 and go with it.
It's my first one and I be liking it too.

Lester has a 300 lb livewell on his boat that may account for that difference. In any case, 5 mpg for a 30 mph cruise is oustanding.

that is a recreational rating, for insurance and liability reasons. but the boats can handle far more power than any sane individual would purchase.

but if you purchase for commercial use there are no restrictions as to hp that I'm aware of. in fact Ive seen more than one 23 with twin 200's or 225 for Law enforcement pictured on thier own site . Zoom Zoom 8)
