Hi Rip,
I have had my boat for only a couple of weeks, but I am going to do some performance testing with 2 different props this Summer with my 2003 Yamaha 225 (less HP than a Honda 225 I believe) and I will post all details of course.
What are your numbers?
Dave

Oh no...... here we go with performance numbers.
At least no one is selling a 1984 30' Scarab with twin two thirsty fives on the transom, because (om another forum I know of) this could go on for weeks.
Performance to me is 1. does it start every time? 2. does it get me there? 3. does it suck my slim wallet clean?
If the answers are; yes, yes, and no. I be good!

There's so many different sea conditions, wind speeds, weight carrying done, I can't get into all that detail stuff.dave wrote:Jettywolf
I like your definition of performance.
AlloyToy's talking a fuel management gauge. That's the only way.
They work great (just do not buy a Flowscan brand) and best of all they tell ya when your motor's running like crap, when that
9 GPH cruise that you're used to seeing goes to 13 gallons per hr.
UT OH, Time to change the plugs!!!!!
I agree with who ever said, get ya a Honda 150/200/225 and go with it.
It's my first one and I be liking it too.
sounds like rip wants more speed.... repower to a Suzuki 250 or 300 .it will be almost 10 mph faster than 225 honda
honda 225 ,2325 3/4 ht almost 50 mph with 4 on board at wot
same boat type with Zuke 250 proped to 60 + mph wot
Zuke 300 ? on a 2325 Look Out !!!!!!!!
Lester has a 300 lb livewell on his boat that may account for that difference. In any case, 5 mpg for a 30 mph cruise is oustanding.

that is a recreational rating, for insurance and liability reasons. but the boats can handle far more power than any sane individual would purchase.
but if you purchase for commercial use there are no restrictions as to hp that I'm aware of. in fact Ive seen more than one 23 with twin 200's or 225 for Law enforcement pictured on thier own site . Zoom Zoom 8)
