touching up outboard

My Honda outboard is starting to peel some paint on the plastic cowling. Anyone ever deal with this? I understand you can get paint from Honda?

You mean that lower cowling? Yeah, its hard to get paint to stick, even Honda hasn't figured it out. What you can do is strip all the old paint, scuff it up with 150 sandpaper, wipe it down with acetone, prime it with 3M #94 primer, paint with Honda rattle can motor paint, thin coats let dry between coats

HONDA PAINT SUXS!!!

Mine is completely off on the back section of the cowl. Just take it all off.....it's gray'ish plastic underneath, anyhow. No biggy.
I just went ahead and chipped the rest off and then sanded it.

No mo' paint, no more BS.

Yeah, the paint at most dealers is $25 a can. Make sure what OYSTER silver ya have. There's a few colors. If you decide to do it.

Apparently the car guys and the marine guys don't talk to each other. My 225's did the same thing, so did my 90
