RockSalt 275
Re: RockSalt 275
Customer showed up with a new REAL-X Trailer. Its definitely heavy - duty. The companies advertising decal were removed and a piece of vinyl was inserted down the length of the I beam. I think it added a nice custom look. In the water next week.

welderbob wrote:Acid wash is ZEP-A-LUME. I buy it in a truck supply, used to wash aluminum dump trucks. Mixed a little strong @ 4/5: 1. sprayed on with pump sprayer and lightly scrubbed in a straight line with a maroon scotchbrite pad. It takes two or three times to get it even. Everything gets rinsed with a hot water pressure washer.

Wish I could get my hands on some
I'd have to move that console to the middle of the boat. Round here stern deck space is the place we "barn dance".
MORE BOB. Keep 'em coming

dont see much in the way of rocket launchers or other rod holders. are there any?
Re: RockSalt 275
I think Welder Bob said the owner/client was a commercial shellfish diver--so it may not have many fishing amenities.capesteve wrote:dont see much in the way of rocket launchers or other rod holders. are there any?

Sorry guys, no rod holders. All of that sort of stuff is easy to add. We had the boat in Groton Ct last weekend. We spend a day with Bill Lincoln racing around ,putting the boat through it paces. Bill was impressed. I was more impressed riding the boat back to NY on Sunday. It was blowing 15-20 Southwest. 3-5 ft seas. We did a steady 25 kts and never took a drop of spray on the windows.

Bob, do you have a website? I don't think we've got you in our builders list. That page gets a lot of views, over 70,000 so far. http://aluminumalloyboats.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=169

Re: RockSalt 275
Longtime lurker, but first time poster here on AAB. I'll use my first post to ask, what happened with this thread? Any more details to share about this boat or any subsequent builds?
Sadly, I only own NON ALLOY boats, though I've added a substantial aluminum pilothouse to one of my boats. I see aluminum hulls in my future.

Re: RockSalt 275
The boat was turn over to the customer who uses the boat for commercial diving.. I get random phone call from Keith with thew message" have I told you lately I love my boat" The boat works on the northshore of Long Island and a ride can usually be arranged. I have encouraged Keith to post here, but he's busy making money with the boat . It will be a long winter, we should hear from him.
