Installing Macerator Pump In Bilge

Hi all,
I have a fish box located in the floor of my aluminum boat. The box is 3' x 4' x 18" deep. Ideally, I want to install the macerator pump for the fish box in the bilge, the shortest distance from the outlet of the box. Can a macerator pump be occasionally submerged with water and still function properly?
