Hi,

Keep getting this message when trying to post updates.... "Your images may only be up to 600 pixels high."

Thought they were/did auto resize ?? Not had a problem before.

Thanks

Landy_Andy, I tried some images I've posted i the past- same thing!!! Got a red text string advising the "images may only be....."

So Welder and Co. may have invoked some "switch" or another that changed more than the photo re-sizing??

PB is wanting to be paid so images are not going to work...from what I understand!

not sure on that pjay9? I've posted some from my photobucket accnt and they've shown, but some of the larger one's don't show- or get stopped by the phpBB Forum app for size. Haven't tried editing down all the photobucket images to 600 tall? but maybe that's what I need to try?

Image
this is stored on photobucket but was edited down to 324 pixels high before storage.

Image
this one is exactly 600 pixels in the edit function in photobucket.... so I think the image storage site allows links if you have an account (mine's a pay account not free) but not sure trying to post a link/reference to taller images?

just got the image warning again for one or my images that is 1100 x 1000 pixels- (stored on photobucket too) so the constraint is here at the Forum's display handling.

welder,
not sure I'm tracking, but more than willing to learn? The photos in my example post before this, were linked to my photobucket accnt? So is the site being "billed" for me linking these? Don't want to increase costs for the site! Not sure I understand, what's at issue? I do understand that you're being asked to pay by photobucket.... but not sure why two images show up??? if you have declined to pay them?

color me confused, but very willing to learn enough to understand. Do others see those images in their view of the site? not sure?

cheers,

No, we're not being billed but they ,photobucket, want 400 dollars a year from AAB and any other site to do what they call "3rd party hosting" of their photos.

I belong to a site called Lance Owners of America...not associated with any company private site like this one. http://www.lanceowners.org/

I mention this as it has no 3rd party hosting and so easy to post pics...either use the ADD or just drag and drop. Might be worth contacting Eric and see what he does.

I notice that some posters here used to have pics in their signature not any more as far as i can tell...looks like a little symbol place holder. I got a notice a few days ago they closed me down..OK so what! I have no need to pay and so should anyone else. JMHO!!

welder, does this mean you'd prefer we use the Attachment/upload method over the image/link method to show images in our posts? If we edit them so they're all <600pixels tall, will it make any difference if we use online storage - cost wise to the site? If not, I'll keep my photobucket storage but..... if this is going to burden the site- I'll move them all home and begin using the Attach method to display.

I'd thought the storage burden of lots of images on the servers would be expensive??? but, can't say I know any relative costs- increased storage cost versus photobucket's requested "fees"- to display what I pay them to store!!! Not sure I get that one, but I'm just a 'user' not a 'provider' so I'd like to do what's best for the site?

As I see it, the problem is with hosted pics (eg, Photobucket), the phpBB software isn't allowing them to be resized and gives the 600 pixel error. It used to work fine but since the change it's not working.

The hosting fee for Photobucket doesn't seen to kick-in if you have a low view count on your pictures, all mine on other sites are still good. Maybe because they've already been viewed lots before they made the change. I guess time will tell. If they trip the 'fee' trigger you'll see a error message on the forum then it's up to the person posting the pic's to pay up if hey want to have people see them. Whoever came up with the idea must be a complete muppet or wanted PB to crash & burn as who's going to pay to have people see their pic's on forums

Well, talk about bait-and-switch!
photobucket will let me keep my paid subscription where I pay them 40/yr or so to store my images and they link wherever I post the <img> type switch, as I've done here for a few years; but ONLY until the end of the year! AT that time, my storage is useless unless I pay 400$- just like they're trying to burn welder - here at the Forum.

BUT NOW... in order to make all my links bad, OR to stop their own business from continuing??? it appears that this coming Dec. all my links will become useless!! I'll be asked to pay the 400 a year to keep my image links valid, but that's not extortion - I can down load my own images, that I have paid to store, to my own PC! Wow is that generous or what... I have all the images stored already so when the time is up I'll just delete or cancel the subscription... it will be interesting if they try to 'own' my images and all the others who'll be leaving photobucket at the end of 2018?

I'm not really all that interested in retracing all of what I've posted, correcting the [photobucket] links to the Forum with [attachments] so the images are still valid. Not sure what to do about this, obviously the bait and switch - breach of contract- that photobucket is undergoing will eliminate small volume image suppliers like me?

So, if anyone cares to have access to my photobucket before the end of the year- Please let me know and I'll make the entire library accessible so anyone interested can download all/any images and use them for reference?

I guess I'll start back using the attach function and burden the site's server with my contributions and not make the end of year mess any worse than it will be given the change in the cost model to store and post online at photobucket.
