Welder needed

If you are able to weld a nice run of dimes with a Miller 350P and are interested in helping on a small skiff project, we need part time help for this boat as it is a specialty project. PM me for details.

I never welded with a Miller 350P I do weld rather well with my millermatic 251.
If we could make this mean red machine weld well http://aluminumalloyboats.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4473
I don't see why we couldn't make a blue one work too.

alumioforte, I'm not applying for the welding job but wondering if you'd be able to share the lines/plans images of the skiff you're building? You describe it as a "specialty project" so that alone invokes interest - and small welded aluminum skiffs are usually very interesting to see- regardless of their design?

Just asking in case you have leave to show us the lines? HEY! pics might help generate some more interest in the welders reading the thread- those in your area?

G&R's link to the Lincoln 350 MP reminds me that we didn't finish that thread OR... I think it was updated on another thread where that power supply was discussed? The MK parts to upgrade the Python for aluminum and the newer ceramic bead contact tips are all worth the time to add. Recently I helped a friend to convert his Miller 350 (air cooled) Python to the Lincoln 'gooseneck' so the MK/Lincoln parts could be used instead of the Miller contact tips. That conversion worked well- and shortly after that - we rigged a water cooled Python to his Miller 350- so he could weld longer with bigger wire and not overheat the gun. ( personally; I think both Miller and Lincoln 'over rated' the air cooled Python's duty cycle at max amperage?)

Anyway- the Miller 350 is a good power supply- but he sure needed the water cooling to weld with 0.045" wire on 1/4" all day! Maybe not true in a small skiff with lighter scantlings where 0.035" may be adequate for thinner material?

The Lincoln turned out to be a wire feed problem, this post was the shining moment of the machine working properly. Thanks again.
