Pacific Hand rail

#1

Post by Challenge »

Hi Folks

I want to add a vertical hand rail to the starboard side of my 20' Pacific to match the one on the port side and make rigging a towing bridle easier. the one on the port side 12" by 1 3/4" and and extruded aluminum. Does anyone know where I can purchase them or should I just call Pacific? I'm not sure if they are set up to do parts. Please let me know if you have any ideas

Thanks

Rick

Challenge, I've only seen a couple of Pacific Skiffs in person- but one thing that jumps out- they did use at least a couple of proprietary extrusions- that is: Pacific owns the "plate" and copyright of the design. So... there are some railings I saw that cannot be found anywhere but Pacific.

Not saying your question is about that particular shape of extrusion- but.... I did see gunwale and cabin elements that are not available from a Local Metal Supplier!

Challenge, TACO Marine (https://tacomarine.com/aluminum-oval-pipe) has some oval extrusions- that look like some of the extrusions I saw on the Pacific skiff's T top and rails. This is not exactly what I saw on the Pacific skiff I've seen here in Alaska, but its very similar cross section extrusion. This stuff is evidently 6063 NOT 6061 - which means that these extrusions would not be suitable for use below the waterline- but handrails seem like they'd be OK?

Not sure if this is what you're looking for (no pics?) but did happen to see this when looking at the Taco Marine site.
