Hewescraft 29 adventure

#1

Post by Trousertrout »

[hey guys and gals. I am currently getting pricing on this boat. I thought I had things narrowed to a weldcraft 28. My buddy is a hewescraft dealer and told me to at least give him a shot at pricing. I really like the measurements on this boat. The angles seem aggressive and I heard of 1.7 mpg with twin 250's. I was looking at ways to cram 4 guys on the weldcraft for 3 to 5 day trips but it would be roughing it. Let me know what you experts have to say about it

I like the shearline. What numbers are you comparing that make you attracted to the Hewes over the Weldcraft?

Keep in mind the #1 influencing factor of fuel mileage is weight. Hull form and other factors come in after that.

Bottom width only decreases by 5" from beam, 21 degrees aft and deep 8" chines. I was just amazed at the weight being 8500 dry and that aggressive bow entry that they are getting that good of mileage

I have a Pacific Explorer 240 and my wife is eyeing up the 290 Adventure.

Sweet rig, angles are nice, should be a nice riding and still towable if you have the right truck. I would like to be able to drive it standing up. Twin 250s should be fine, but there's not much weight penalty for getting twin 300s.

Curious to see what pricing they're able to offer you. I've seen $230 to $240K, which opens the door to a lot of different boats. If this was $180K with engines (before electronics, anchor, etc) it would seem more reasonable IMO. Not sure what is costing that extra $50 or 60K.

Thanks for the invite! I'm going to hold the wifey off for another season or two since we just purchased our boat a year ago. I like the idea of going with a local builder.
