Bilge keel / strake / anode identification question

#1

Post by Boxboy »

Ok on the back hull I have 2 welded on 3 ft angle aluminium looks to be 2 to 3" wide. And bolted to it looks to be long anode possibly? Anybody have any input to what these are called and if they are actually anodes or what function they have? Acb 26ft boat. Thanks

Welcome to the site and thanks for posting the photos! I'm not sure if those are anodes or not. However it looks like you might have carpeted bunks on your trailer. The pressure treated wood and salt water can cause corrosion on the bottom of you hull. There are some folks here who have experienced it!

Cheers

Thanks Rick. I do plan to change that this summer when boat is the water. I did Jack up the boat and inspected under the bunks area and all is fairly consistent to rest of hull. Will get the hull painted out as well hopefully this spring if not fall.
