StarCraft hull quick fix

#1

Post by srfplgn »

I need to repair a hole on my 98 StarCraft Fishmaster 170.

I'm planning to rivet a plate of aluminum over the hole and seal with 5200. Its going to be a one-sided repair for now unfortunately.

What gauge aluminium is used on the sides of this hull?

What size closed-end rivet should I use?

TY!

10ga or 12ga probably closer to the 12 gauge.
Use a micrometer or Caliper to measure it if you can.

This forum is more geared towards the commercial thicker fully welded aluminum boats, may not be the best place for repairs on thinner riveted boats.
A one sided repair means you intend to use blind rivets? A pop rivet or hollow rivet has a hole in the middle, unlike a solid rivet that fills the hole and creates a plug with a formed head on both sides. The rivets used in boat construction require access to both sides to install.
If you are unsure of a proper repair, consulting a company familiar with repairing similar hulls might be wise.
