I'm looking to begin construction on something bigger... SeaWolf can't/won't build anything much bigger than I've already got, so now I have to look for a new builder to work with.
My initial "wish list" calls for 40'-50', 20 knot (or greater) cruise at something under 25 gph. It's got to have at least 2 staterooms - preferrably 3 to accommodate 4-6 guests overnight plus 2 crew in the wheelhouse or separate quarters.
I'm currently looking at a 45' (LOA) MaxCat, but I'm wondering if there are any other builders out there that I should be considering...?

Our site has a pretty comprehensive list of builders here: Builder Master List
If you want to stick with PacNW builders I'd suggest you look at:
Rozema Boatworls
Nichols Diversified
Armstrong
Northwind
Maxweld (as you mentioned)
Rozema is at the top of my wish list if I had the coin to get something big.

CanCan: Daigle Welding is building a 42' now:

The only issue you would have is if you wanted to use it for charter you have to fight the Jones Act issue. I understand you can get a waiver to use a foreign built hull for commercial/charter but I don't know how involved it is. I sure like my 34' EagleCraft.

CanCan,
did ya ever find that mate you were looking for?
If you get a really big boat, I may come up there and try it.
What was it? $1200 a month with room and board?
Was that with 3 squares a day?
I only do maybe one, these days.
So it could be an upgrade.
Do I have to cook?
I'm not good in a kitchen other than sandwiches.

I've heard of too many cooks in the kitchen, but is there such a thing as too many guides (who can't cook) in the boat? ;-)JETTYWOLF wrote:...
