strap vs. cable
I hate the cable on my trailer winch and want to change to a strap. I measured the inside of my winch and it measures 2 3/4 " What size strap should I buy? will a 2" strap work OK?

Adrian,
Mine is 2" the strap that is
Just make sure it's rated for the proper weight of you boat. I think mine was 4800 lbs.

Adrian,
Change that cable over to a strap just make sure the strap is rated over the weight of your boat, gas and gear.
A yellow colored 2" strap has an over all tensile strength of 10,000# I'm guess $25 beans.
You can get them from these guys, in oxford.

or try spring rebuilders on rte20 and grafton st in Worcester.

Adrian,
Weird, your now the second person that I've heard use the term "PITA". My better half is the first person, and I hear it a lot.

Re: strap vs. cable
I wish I had a double bow eye like on the 34 Rocksalt , one for my strap and one for a turn buckle so when I'm running down LA.Highways ,Bump Bump Bump Bump Bump Bump, I don't stretch out my strap.
Oh yeah, my strap is BLACK.

Strap has been ordered, now I wish I had seen the winch rope before I ordered the strap.

Hi Adrian,
You may as well buy the winch rope anyway as the strap will wear out. With an export tax exemption it will cost you about US$43 plus postage.
