Sorry I'm way behind on posting projects. We had a 38' aluminum trailer come to the shop for repair. It appear that years of hard backing turns had cracked the area the cross frame and axle mounting area. The trailer was built by MYCO trailers in Jettyland (Florida). I made a quick phone call to Myco to confirm the way that We had proposed to repair the trailer. The were very nice and suggested a small gusset between the cross frame and main frame to prevent flexing.
I apologize if the pictures are out of order. :
First we drilled the crack at the ends
We gouged out the crack
Welded the crack
Added a doubler plate to the outside
Welded a a small gusset to the cross frame.
