Rocksalt 34 is going on a cruz

#1

Post by welder »

I heard a rumor through my connections in my ALLOY world :joecool: that Jay Perrotta from Rocksalt boats [ and Blacklab Marine ] might be running the 34 ALLOY BEAST up the EASTERN SEABOARD starting in Miami on Tuesday the 14th .
I heard he will be making stops ALL ALONG the way . I don't know if he is running the ICW or out side but I'm sure that if Perrotta is cruising his Beast up the eastern seaboard he would be willing to stop and do something Fisherman Orientated with fellow Boaters and Fishermen.

SO, What say you Jay , IS this for real , your not at home answering your phone so you MUST be on the road .....Talk to us buddy , I'm calling you out , is this RUMOR TRUE ?

If it is , I hope those BIG Yamahas get good MPG, and, if it is, have a safe trip.

Yup!

Driving from Texas to Ft Lauderdale over the next two days then hopping into the RS34 and visiting with various law enforcement agencies going up the coast.

We're going to Jacksonville and stopping for a bit before we head on up the coast. Jetty you around in 10 days or so? Wanna go for a ride?

Any one else along the Florida east coast is welcome to go for a ride as well!

I'm looking forward to doing the whole coast by boat - anyone have any marina, restaurant - sight seeing suggestions?

Portable disposable deck tanks, bring her down under for a fish Jay!! -

You'd get 4 or 5 of those 1000 liter square square cubes on deck no worries I reckon!

Refuel at Hawaii and all the lil pacific islands along the way!

Same Same for the return trip.

Too easy!

Might want shares in an oil co tho!

Cheers

Jay, I'm always around....7am-8pm (after 8 I'm sometimes still awake)
I'm as close as 904-642-9546on my hip otherwise.
If you're coming up (north) on the ICW, you'll have to pass thru the St. Johns River and go "south" to any Police/Fire dept.
I'd like a ride, "my dad too." I can guide you to anything & everything. Even crap ya don't care about.
Just like my customers....

The fish & wildlife goons have a big Fincat ""an unpleasing to the eye, alloy cat"" boat. From what I hear from a few, they don't seem to like it that much.
They use that as a offshore "harrassment" boat.

There is a few Marina's around. And one right next too the boat ramp I use.
Morningstar Marina - Mayport, Fla.
Then downtown near some hotels (w/in walking distance) there's a city Marina....(20 miles from the ocean though west of the coast) That's where the Sherriff's dept is. Not anywhere near the coast where the ICW runs.

Sorry everyone for the delay in replying - getting on the web while traveling is still challenging for me.

Final destination for the first leg is NC - if all goes well I'll head home for a bit and then continue all the way up the coast a bit later. I've even thought of trying to go to Bermuda and back! (600 miles east of NC).

Bermuda first - if that works then maybe the Northwest Passage and then down to Australia!

You ought to have a camera man with you and at least make your own show after all this, at least on Youtube. They do weekly shows on youtube.

Sounds like a working vacation?

Who's tending the BLM farm?
Are sales of those still ticking along?

I seem to only fish on weekends these days, since the economy is still in the toilet. So weekdays for me are wide open.

How's BLM sales?

Jetty,

Team Texas will be watching the BLM farm - we have two boats being built right now so it ticks along in this economy but not like pre-2008.

This trip is a bit of a make it up as you go along - so no real timeframes or agendas other than to meet LE, etc...

10-4

I'll be around as tour guide and yes, I'd like the spit to roll outa my mouth as we thunder down the St. Johns River.

Remember I yhave literally thousands a week who visit my blog so I can post photos as I usually do once a month of aluminum boat, calling each months session. "Your monthly education of metal boats".

This month it was the Pacific tour video of the factory.

Next month it can be RS on the St. Johns with Jay and the Jettywolf.

Yeah....THOUSANDS a week. I know??? I can't belive it either. Wish they'd all book charters.

Paid leave or a working vacation (family & kids???)....what a way to spend some time  As long as you don't have to pay to fill the tanks Jay

I remember when Capt. Roger Jarvis (Old Salt from Duxbury) took the new 34' Glacier Bay on a month long rendezvous  He did a great blog with all his experiences along the way.....awesome :!:

Ya got that straight!

My house is on the jetty rocks at the inlet, so there...... :rotfl: :rotfl:

I hope we "do" get phone calls.

Peter B. was all over FLA and I missed him when he was here ,TWICE.

That shouldn't be the case with Mr. Perrotta, I hope.

Ya, me to.
Should be an eye opener for me, I have around 700 hours on 2 different 36' glass center consoles.
With 4 different captains, and some captains just drive these go FAST boats like it's a sport fisher :skillet:

Jetty and Matt,

We'll definitely hook-up.

Matt, I'll be visiting my friend Peter Truslow who runs Edgewater Powerboats in Edgewater, FL (I know they're non-alloy) so that looks to be in your backyard.

Jetty - depending upon how busy you are we may need a hand with some truck/trailer logistics.

We're moving the truck and trailer ahead of us and then going back to the boat and driving it north to the truck (Make sense?) When it comes time to drive the truck/trailer to Jacksonville we'll need someplace to store it for a few days and then need a ride south to the boat. We'd be happy to pay you for your time and expenses!

Alloy - nope -- no kids - all business.

The first two days on the water have been fun and productive. The wind has been blowing pretty steadily and this makes for better demo rides but is a bit annoying and we have stayed "inside" for transiting. I've never spent this much time in my life going slow on a boat.

We headed south from Pompano on our first day and met with a number of law enforcement and other gov't agencies and ended up in Downtown Miami for the night.

Second day found us heading north and doing some great demo rides and ending up where we started in Pompano!

We'll have to move a bit quicker but we've met some great people and garnered some very good interest. People have been open, helpful and have really, really liked the boat!

Time to get back on the water...
